Projector and Screen recommendation

With the latest super projectors, I am planning on buying a projector and a screen. My search narrows to the Panasonic AE2000U, but wanted to get opinions from knowledgeable folks. The Epson & JVC RS1/2 are also candidates, however, the JVCs are a lot more expensive.

Also, need recommendation for screens (~133" tensioned, concealed, electric).

Thanks much!

Re: Projector and Screen recommendation

I have the Panasonic ae2000 and am very happy with it. The good thing is, it comes almost perfect out of the box. Just use the color1 mode and perhaps adjust a bit Contrast, Brightness and gamma according to your room conditions.

For the screen you want, I have no recommendation. I use a simple roll-down white screen, 2.55m wide, which cost me only 260 Euro and is enough for my needs.

Re: Projector and Screen recommendation

You should ask this in the TV/Projector section. Do you care if it's DLP or LCD? What is your max. budget for projector? The new Epson 1080UB sounds great, according to the 2 reviews I read. I can't help you with the screen. I have a DIY screen.

Great idea, I thought the HT hardware would be good. Max budget for projector $3500. Yes, the Epson is good but the Panasonic has a more film like picture.

I'm thrilled with my Sony Pearl. Cost should be near your budget. I'm using a Dalite High Power 119" screen.

If you don't mind: How much was the Dalite High Powered screen? And where did you buy it from?

I don't know much about the Sony Pearl... I will find out soon.

Thanks!

I think the screen was around $500 or so after shipping. I bought it from AVScience, but I think B&H has it for a similar price if I remember correctly.

The model number of my projector VPL-VW50 which was replaced last year with the VPL-VW60.
