Is it realistic to hope that this could wind up getting released in the US sometime this year? I'd certainly buy it on release day, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

i'm sure we'll see part of this. both Tarrantino and Ropdriguez refer to GRINDHOUSE as a seperate entity, I'm sure they both want it released.

I am tempted to get this but I already have the U.S. versions and don't want to spend $99 just for the theatrical cut. Now, if they so much as had a Kurt Russel shirt, bear with a machine gun leg, or lobby cards, I would have pre-ordered this immediately. The Japanes Kill Bill sets had lots of stuff with them which is why they cost so much more. The extras plus the Japanese cut of Kill Bill 1 made that worth the price.
I do have little faith that we will see a theatrical version of this anytime soon. I would love to be proved wrong on this.

I thought I was going to luck out because I had a few Amazon coupons. They don't work on the Japan site though. I could have ad the set for under $50.
I really hope we get some type of U.S. release.
