Re: If you could release 10 shows on DVD for 2008 what would they be?

I've updated the list and I found myself stretching it to 15.

Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (This is my next unreleased "holy grail", so please Fox - all four seasons from their original ABC broadcasts, complete and music intact.)
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (especially in season sets)
Peacemakers
Mysterious Ways
Danger Bay
Father Dowling Mysteries (including the pilot telefilm)
MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis/MacGyer: Trail to Doomsday (separate release)
The Fall Guy Seasons 2-5 (with no music replacements or edits)
Jamie Oliver (more releases like Jamie's Great Italian Escape, Jamie's School Dinners/Jamie's Return to School Dinners, Jamie at Home, The Naked Chef, the remaining episodes of Oliver's Twist, etc.)
Homefront (both seasons with all of the music intact)
Early Edition Seasons 2-4 (complete and no music replacements)
Everwood Seasons 2-4 (with all of the music intact)
Legend
Ed (with all of the original music intact and the unaired pilot included)
Valerie/Valerie's Family/The Hogan Family (especially in season sets and as originally aired with no music replacement)

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

Re: If you could release 10 shows on DVD for 2008 what would they be?

1. Homefront - I would pay practically anything for this one
2. Dobie Gillis
3. St. Elsewhere, Season 2 and beyond
4. Ned & Stacey, Season 2
5. My World and Welcome To It

And embarrassingly enough I would love season sets of the years my favorite cast is on of Barney.

Re: If you could release 10 shows on DVD for 2008 what would they be?

I'm going with all complete series sets. I also mention what I would like released with them. I'm not very creative, so they all pretty much say the same thing, lol.

1. "My Three Sons: The Complete Series" - All 12 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with ALL the living cast members and commentary on many episodes. Also, the My Three Sons/Partridge Family Reunion show. It'd cost a pretty penny, but for this show, I'd save up and pay it.

2. "Batman: The Complete Series" - All 3 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with Adam West, Burt Ward and Yvonne Craig (and whoever else would want to be interviewed). Plus commentary on many of the episodes. Also included would be the 1966 movie.

3. "Hey Dude: The Complete Series" - All 65 episodes, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with the cast and commentary on ALL episodes.

4. "Mister Ed: The Complete Series" - All 6 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with Alan Young and Connie Hines (and whoever else is alive from the cast, but I don't think there is anyone else, sadly). Also commentary on many episodes.

5. "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis: The Complete Series" - All 4 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with the cast and commentary of many episodes. Also included would be the two (I believe there's two) reunion movies.

6."Car 54, Where Are You?: The Complete Series" - Both seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with whoever's alive from that show as well as commentary.

7. "The Patty Duke Show: The Complete Series" - All 3 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with Patty Duke (Patty Lane) and Patty Duke (Cathy Lane), and other living castmembers. Plus, commentaries.

8. "The Donna Reed Show: The Complete Series" - All 8 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with living castmembers (Jeff, Mary and Trish), also commentaries on many episodes. I know season one has just been announced, so this may be a waste of a choice, but still, I want a complete series set, lol.

9. "Salute Your Shorts: The Complete Series" - Both seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would include a brand new documentary, interviews with the cast and commentaries on ALL 26 episodes.

10. "California Dreams: The Complete Series" - All 5 seasons, uncut and digitally remastered. Bonus features would inclide a brand new documentary, interviews with the cast and commentaries on many of the episodes.

As far as season sets goes, I'll list the ten shows that I want continued. But the ten mentioned above are my official choices.

1. Boy Meets World: Season 4
2. Ned & Stacey: Season 2
3. The Bob Newhart Show: Season 4
4. The Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 5
5. All in the Family: Season 7
6. One Day at a Time: Season 2
7. Sliders: Season 5
8. Hazel: Season 2
9. Have Gun, Will Travel: Season 4
10. Taxi: Season 4

Yes, there were two reunion movies. I love the idea of a complete series set for "Dobie" (ala Time-Life). There's a rights issue with this series. It was brought up on Stu's Show on Shokus Internet Radio last year that Fox was looking at bringing it out on DVD, but the Max Shulman estate was asking for a large sum of money. I don't know if anything has changed. This is very high on my "want list", so I hope we'll see it out on DVD in the future.

I've never seen either of the movies, but would love to see them. Also, I remember reading something about the rights issues, but I had forgotten. I hate these estates always wanting lots and lots of money for DVDs. We're just fans of the show that want to have the episodes on DVD. We're the good guys. You'd think they would want to help us out and be proud to release the rights of the show to be put on DVD. But then again, that's not the world we live in.

Having given that caveat, here are my 10:

LEAVE IT TO BEAVER S3-6 (since this one is really dead, and not just between releases).
DONNA REED SHOW
HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL S4-6 (since this too really is dead, and not just between releases)
MY THREE SONS
MICKEY MOUSE CLUB (Complete episodes, not chopped up syndicated ones)
SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN
FOLLOW THE SUN
WIDE COUNTRY
TARZAN (Ron Ely series)
HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS (original H/B series from early 70's)

Gary "man, it's always so hard to limit myself to 10 - 50 would be more like it" O.

Wow, not sure what I was thinking the day I compiled that list above, but now that we are over half-way through 2008 I thought I would revisit it to see if anything I picked was coming and also revise the list.

First off, I have to mention that with the debacle to my favorite show of all time, THE FUGITIVE, it will now have to be added to any wish list I put out. There must be a correction to the music score or I'll never be happy, so always expect that show to be at the top of any wish list for Gary "insert quote" O. from this day forward.

Secondly, I do see that a couple of shows I mentioned are indeed coming out, and that's fantastic. We've got THE DONNA REED SHOW making it's debut in a few months, and we've got MY THREE SONS coming as well (albeit in the dreaded split-season packaging).

Forgive me, but I picked up the remainder of HGWT off the not to be named market and am really happy with what I got, so this one will fall off my top 10 list even though I'd still pick up an official release. Seriously thinking about doing the same with a couple of the others I listed that I know I can get from pretty good sources.

I'm still scratching my head on a few of my initial picks, thinking I must have had a double pepperoni pizza late the night before and been working on no sleep when I compiled that list. Not that I wouldn't want to see all the shows I originally listed. I would. But there are certainly others that should have been ranked ahead of some. So here's my new list for the remainder of the year (even though we've only got December left for most announcements).

1) THE FUGITIVE (S 2-4 with original musical score)
2) LEAVE IT TO BEAVER (S 3-6)
3) SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN
4) PATTY DUKE SHOW
5) THE LUCY SHOW
6) VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (S 4)
7) NAKED CITY (S 1 in particular)
8) MICKEY MOUSE CLUB (original uncut hour version)
9) RIFLEMAN (keeping fingers crossed that it really is coming in big set)
10) LASSIE (full run up through black & white Ranger eps)

I didn't even list THE WONDER YEARS because that's the one show I'm firmly convinced is never coming. At least never coming uncut - which is the only way I'd buy it.

There were so many shows that I wanted to add, and on any given day I guarantee that any shows other than my top 3 could change. I want all the ones I listed and would buy them quickly if they were released. But I'd also buy the other shows I listed the first time around, as well as all the ones listed in my signature. And so, so many more.

Gary "2008 has been an interesting year - much heartache (FUGITIVE, BATMAN misfire & ROUTE 66) and much joy (DONNA REED, MY 3 SONS, more FKB, M-SQUAD, etc)" O.

My list is short, but I really want:

1. The State: The troupe's site says that the whole set is done, with a ton of extras, deleted sketches and commentaries, but MTV just decided not to release it.
2. Ed: yes, yes and yes. I'd buy it the day it came out.
3. Wonder Years. But come on.

Seriously, what the hell is Warner Bros.' problem? Finish what you start.

I second that emotion. What the (bleep) is wrong with Warner Brothers anyway??

This show was on NBC for nine years. I watched every episode faithfully. My ex wife missed taping it for me once, and that NEVER happened again, after we "discussed" her failure to do so. That's how serious I was and still am about this show.

The fact that this was on for nine years apparently means nothing to WB. Somehow they don't think it will sell. They've been sure to release things like Tom & Jerry and Roots and North & South, all of which I have, incidentally.

Night Court WILL sell, Warner Brothers. LISTEN to your customers for a change!!!!!!!!

It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.
