OK- I just did! Maybe I should start one for Peyton Place.........
Bring "The continuing story of PEYTON PLACE" home on DVD: the one that started it all- from Dallas and Dynasty to Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl!!! Starting this May, see the legendary saga starring Mia Farrow, Ryan O'Neal, Barbara Parkins, and Oscar-winner Dorothy Malone on DVD thru Shout!...

Re: Knots Landing DVD Petition Please Sign. 3411 Signatures But We Need 10.000.

I just signed it too. KNOTS LANDING is my favorite show ever and I can't bear the thought that it's not out there on DVD beyond Season 1 when less than stellar shows such as WALKER TEXAS RANGER or 7TH HEAVEN have several seasons out.

Bring these sets on!

Everwood : Seasons 3-4 - Knots Landing : Seasons 3-14 - The Nanny : Seasons 4-6 - Party of Five : Seasons 4-6 - Picket Fences : Seasons 2-4

Re: Knots Landing DVD Petition Please Sign. 3411 Signatures But We Need 10.000.

People signing the petition that have no intent of buying the product isn't necessarily doing the petition movement any favors. If you could somehow trick the studios into thinking there are more people willing to buy the product than there really are, actual sales numbers would soon tell the tale. What they'd learn from that is not to believe these type of petitions. That is, assuming they haven't already learned that lesson based on past petitions. If I sign a petition, I'm signing saying that barring unforeseen circumstances (they charge $200 for the season set, they cut it to all hell, etc.) I'll be buying the product when it is released.

Studios, caption your internet streams.

If I was the company behind it I would release the mini-series Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-De-Sac and see how much money that brought in. Would love to see that as well as seasons 2+ of the show

Do on-line pettions really make a difference? I mean isn't the effort best put into sending postcards and letters to the studios?

Any effort on the part of the fans is good. Everyone should support the release of their favorite shows. However, the bottom line is sales. Did the first KL release do well ? If not, then there's your answer.

Why aren't people putting their effort into buying copies of their favorite shows and giving them as gifts to other fans ?

This option simply won't ever work. Other fans will probably buy their own copy. As for offering them around to various people that don't know the show, speaking for myself, I wouldn't want to receive a show I have no interest in as a gift just because a friend wants to ensure that his/her favorite show gets more releases. If someone ever has the nerve to offer me WALKER TEXAS RANGER or 7TH HEAVEN, I will tell them they can go back to the shop and get a refund as I won't accept either of these pieces of trash in my collection. I guess other people will feel that way about KNOTS LANDING, and that's OK in my book. Different shows appeal to different people. KNOTS LANDING sold reasonably well (it was in the Top 10 of Video Business for the week it was released) but below Warner's unrealistic expectations. Warner just needs to realize that it is simply impossible for every show to sell as well as FRIENDS.

The top 10? Seriously? And Warner isn't satisfied with the sales? How much could they have spent on it when they used the same tapes SoapNet had?

I wouldn't accept "Walker" either, or "7th Heaven." By the same token, if someone attempted to foist "Seinfeld," "Friends," or "Raymond" on me, I'd be saying much the same thing that you would say about "Walker" or "7th Heaven." Of course, as you said, some people will accept those series (that you and I mentioned) for their collections, and some won't (I and certain other people are in the "won't" category). Why does Warner Bros. unrealistically expect "KL" (a series that started in the late-'70's) to sell as high as "Friends" (a series that started in the mid-'90's) prior to releasing any more of "KL," while pumping out release after release of "Friends"? I mean, they've already put out all 10 seasons' worth of "Friends," and also a completed series package of the same, while only releasing one of "KL" and then quitting because "KL" is/was not as popular as "Friends" is/was.

I believe that the "Knot's Landing vs. Friends" example is used as an exaggeration. For the reasons that you list, there's no way that Warners thinks Knot's Landing would sell as well as Friends. Maybe Warners does have unrealistic sales expectations for Knot's Landing but no one has any real information to indicate that. They're just making an assumption.
