It sounds really good and has a phono and an RCA out with a gain knob.

I haven't tried any of the USB funtions but as a record player it does work really well. There's no cover for it, and no auto play.

I throw on some dolby pro logic music, and let it rip. Nice warm analog sound that you just can't beat.

Were you going to use it for the USB functions or just more as a turn table? Alot of the new vinyl comes with codes to download the albums. I'm actually more into buying new vinyl than collecting old stuff. All of my albums are of recent pressing. I don't have many yet, but it's growing.
I'm interested in both functions. I have some old vinyl I'd really like to convert to digital, but I'd also like to get some more current vinyl releases.

So there's a piece of wood going from left speaker to right speaker?

I was fearing for your PS3 when I saw the pic.

It's actually a very sturdy piece of composite wood, lol. Made of plastic and wood, so its better than real wood .

It's very sturdy as long as I don't hit it.

I also have one of those ION turntables and have used it to connect up to my PC via the USB. It works pretty good. The only real difficulty I had was getting it set (and keeping it set) as the default sound input device. Seems like it is sometimes hit or miss as to whether I will hear anything without fiddling with it. But eventually Audacity and I got on the same page.

I have been using it to convert some of my vinyl from when I was growing up as well as some of my dad's old LPs and my grandmother's old 78's. I haven't had a lot of success cleaning these up, but I can't blame the turntable for that.

BTW, as to the subject of this thread, I am either going to bite on a PS3 by the end of the week or wait a year. At this point it could go either way.

Re: Has anyone gone Blu since Friday?

Yep-well not me really ... my SO did with their own PS3. And another friend is actively looking but wanted something more like a traditional CE player. Important thing was that both were waiting for a winner in the format war.

I'm happy

Haha... I'm sorta evangelizing to a few friends/coworkers/etc myself as I usually end up doing w/ such things.

Alot of my friends said things, but i was like "it's about movies mannnn"

Yeah, I donno. It's sort of fun actually just HAVING a PS3.

I love 28 Weeks Later. It's soooooo effin dramatic. It's a bit heavy to enjoy casually, but damn, so moody.

Re: Has anyone gone Blu since Friday?

After a few weeks the PS3 is still impressing me. 300, Harry Potter, The Fifth Element all look great. I think the real gem is Blade Runner. It's a steal at it's current price and the PQ is fantastic for a movie that old. My only disappointment is the lack of blu-ray releases and deals each week. I'd be happy to start replacing the DVD collection I have mostly liquidated, but I can't do that with mostly new releases I'm not interested in each week. Let's make everyone happy and fast track LOTR so I can never leave the house =)
