Anna Paquin And Breckin Meyer Star In The Romantic Comedy About
One Man’s Political Promise And His Soul-Searching Journey
Film Debuts Exclusively On DVD February 12 From MGM Home Entertainment
LOS ANGELES, CA – A committed young activist and a seemingly indifferent alterna-chick find love in the most unexpected way in the hilarious and poignant comedy Blue State, debuting on DVD February 12 from MGM Home Entertainment. Making its premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival, Blue State stars Breckin Meyer (Garfield, Road Trip) as the impassioned liberal, John Logue, who finds himself in a state of the blues after watching Bush’s victorious re-election and must now face up to a promise he made on the eve of election… to pick up and move to Canada. After interviewing a number of potential co-travelers for his road trip, he meets Chloe Hamon (Academy Award® winner Anna Paquin, The Piano) who seems like the perfect travel companion: quirky, agreeable …and attractive. But after a stop along the way at the home of John’s radical parents, shocking revelations about Chloe’s secret past and a series of misguided events at the “Marry-a-Canadian” headquarters, John and Chloe develop an intimate bond as they are forced to question the true meaning of their convictions, identities and values. Called “a prime premise for a comedy,” (Variety) and “disarmingly fun,” (CinemATL) the Blue State DVD includes the feature film in both widescreen and full screen formats and will be available for the suggested retail price of $26.98 US. Pre-book is January 16.
Blue State Synopsis
Vowing to move to Canada if John Kerry loses the 2004 election, fervent liberal John Logue (Breckin Meyer) suddenly finds himself with no job, no girlfriend – and no country! Making good on his “campaign promise,” Logue finds a traveling companion--a sexy, mysterious woman named Chloe (Anna Paquin)--and heads north. But Chloe is not all that she seems, and their journey takes more twists and turns than either could have imagined in this romantic comedy that’s as poignant as it is “disarmingly fun” (Martin Kelley, CinemATL).
