Re: New & Confused about this setup. Help Please!

There's usually multiple ways to connect a home theater setup. I prefer to route all video directly to the TV video in. For video devices with stereo output (not surround sound), I also connect the audio to the TV. The TV audio and video goes to the receiver. That means:

TV audio out to Receiver
Wii and VCR video and audio to TV
DVD video to TV, and DVD audio to Receiver

For your setup, it's something like this:

(3) TV audio out to Receiver's Video 1 audio in.

CableTV to TV 75 ohm ANT input

Wii to TV (8) if you've got the component video connector for the Wii. Otherwise, to (3), I think.

Ipod to TV input (audio & video)

Re: New & Confused about this setup. Help Please!

You don't have enough connections or connections of the right type to wire everything so as to give you sound from both the TV and the Phillips. (Which is not a "home theater", no matter what Phillips tries to tell you. Your home theater is everything that goes into bringing the theater experience into your room, including your TV, furniture and lighting.)

Your satellite receiver has both component video out and digital coax out. You should have the video going to the TV via one of the two component inputs and the audio going to the Phillips via its digital coax input. That frees up a stereo audio input for the Wii. If your component connection "flickers" there is a problem - either with the connection (not all the wires are properly seated), the cables themselves, the component output on the source device, or the component input on the TV.

Whatever the cause is, you shouldn't just ignore it, especially if this stuff is under warranty. You should take the following troubleshooting steps:

1) Remove and reconnect the cables. Make sure they are plugged in tight. (Especially with new cables you may really have to push to get them to lock in.)

2) Connect those cables to the other component input on the TV. If the problem goes away, you know the problem is the other input on the TV and you should have it repaired. If the problem persists, odds are the problem is on the source side.

3) Try new cables.

4) Connect the Wii to a different TV using component. If the problem is still there, the Wii is the problem.

But you want to have both component inputs working 100% because with your system they will give you the highest quality video.

Hope this helps,
