Re: Dear Universal...

Well, if I could wish for some Universal releases next year, my list would be something like this:

Remember the Night
Easy Living
Midnight
The Gilded Lily
To Each His Own
His Butler's Sister (and many more Deanna Durbin)
Angel
Desire
Bluebeard's Eighth Wife
Kitty
Hold Back the Dawn
The Frenchman's Creek
Sitting Pretty (Ginger Rogers)
The Major and the Minor
5 Graves to Cairo
A Foreign Affair
The Affairs of Susan
Arise my Love
Ride the Pink Horse
The Glass Key
The Blue Dahlia
Ministry of fear
The Uninvited
Mississipi
Dixie (and more Crosby)
The Cat and the Canary (an official release)
Nothing but the truth
Let's face it
Red, Hot and Blue
Bolero (and more Lombard)
Magnificent Obsession (the Irene Dunne/Bob Taylor version)
Back Street (Irene Dunne version)
China
She done him wrong
Zaza
No Time for Love
West Mountain Mounted Police
The Forest Rangers
Lady in the Dark
Invitation to Happpiness
Unfinished Business
Lady in a Jam
When tomorrow comes
Ivy
The Great Man's Lady
Flesh and Fantasy
Internes can't take money
Pratically Yours
I wanted wings
Take a letter darling
So Evil my love
I walk alone
Desert Fury
All my sons
Kiss the Blood Off My Hands
Singapore
One touch of Venus
Cobra woman (and all of Maria Montez adventures)

as you can see, my list is anything but short, and I would only hope Universal could take a glimpse and consider some of those for future release instead of a new package for Imitation of Life, for instance.

GREAT SUGGESTION!!!

That would be amazing!

And of Rafael's list I'll put strong emphasis on the following:

5 Graves to Cairo
A Foreign Affair
The Glass Key
The Blue Dahlia
Ministry of fear
The Uninvited
The Cat and the Canary (an official release)
She done him wrong

Re: Dear Universal...

how about some kind of Billy Wilder themed set (not neccessarily as director)?
Then Universal could give us
Hold Back The Dawn
Midnight
Bluebeard's Eight Wife
Five Graves To Cairo

(+ The Major and the Minor?-not sure what else is under Universals control from that period)
all in one swoop. That would be my big dream box set at this point.

Also, more Montez
the rest of the Ladd and Lake movies
The Uninvited
and absolutely, Lonely Are The Brave

please, please, please!

Re: Dear Universal...

Dear Santa:

A second Universal Noir wave featuring The Blue Dahlia, The Glass Key, Phantom Lady and Ministry of Fear would be nice. It's only been almost 4 years since the first (ond only) wave.

oh and cough up Island of Lost Souls already!

Merry x-mas.

Hear! Hear!

Not sure why they never followed up with another wave of noirs, especially considering the revived interest and popularity/home video success with studios like Warner Bros. and Fox in recent years... I'm sure Universal could do just as well.

I'll second 'Lonely Are The Brave' and I'd also like to see first DVD releases of 'Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here' and 'Taking Off'.

Re: Dear Universal...

And that fascinating train-wreck of a movie, CAN HIERONYMOUS MERKIN EVER FORGET MERCY HUMPE AND FIND TRUE HAPPINESS with restored musical numbers (especially "Oh What A Son of a Bitch I Am").
