Not sure what the scoop is at HTF, but I have similar hit and runs on several sites I run. Most are owned by spammers who want to look authentic by having an 'older' account sign up date and an established posting history.
In this case tho, where a bump is very specific to a product like this, it might be tempting to think that its a result of the new search capability combined with a user not fully being aware of how old the search results are. Several forums have failsafes that interrupt a bump like this with a pop-up that says "This thread is over XXX days old, are you REALLY sure you want to reply to it?" Some forums don't let you bump old threads at all after a certain date.
