Speaker and Sub Configuration and Advice

I am trying to build a home theater. I went to sound advice for a free consultation and I have a couple questions about the speakers they are selling me. My theater room is 16 x 15, and the ceiling is vaulted. Sound advice said since my room is small in wall speakers are a better option which sounds reasonable, if they have good enough sound quality wisw.

Configuration
1 Polk Audio LC265I In-Ceiling (Center)
2 Polk Audio TC80I In-Ceiling (Fronts)
4 Polk Audio TC 60I In-Ceiling (Surround)
2 Martin Logan Dynamo 8"

Price $3300

Questions:

For the price are these the best speakers I can get in-ceiling? Are they good enough for home theater speakers? Should I get floors and bookshelves instead, even though my room is small? Are the same or better speakers for a cheaper price?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Re: Speaker and Sub Configuration and Advice

Are they REALLY selling you in-ceiling speakers for the front? If so, I'm stunned. This is the second time I've seen that in as many weeks. Never, ever, EVER use in-ceiling speakers for the front, and only for surrounds if you absolutely have to.

Personally, I would NEVER use in-wall speakers either unless it was absolutely necessary, or it was just a system for background music. For one, there is more construction and for another, it is a serious pain the change speakers.

You can do MUCH better for 3.3K. Plus, if you get a decent sub, you don't really need two of them.

I would go somewhere else.

I recently recommended a full SVS system that came in at only about $1,100 plus shipping that would put that set to shame. It was the basic SBS 5.0 set plus a PCi 25-31.

Re: Speaker and Sub Configuration and Advice

I really wonder where the idea is coming from to recommend in-ceiling fronts. I can see in-walls because of esthetics, but there is abolutely no reason I can think of for in-ceiling fronts. Either these companies get a good deal on in-ceilings or they must be dealing with the severest cases of WAF to be recommending a setup that far removed from the ideal.
