I guess I assumed that Dolby's video noise reduction work was aimed at HDM. Well I guess you know what happens when you assume.

I honestly don't know. I'm unaware of Dolby doing any work in video or video noise reduction. Do you know of something that they are working on?

I heard that Dolby was showing off video noise redution technology at CES. It is also on Dolby's web site so maybe someone else is actually doing the noise reduction on some of these titles at the moment.

It's not noise reduction. Read the article attached to that link here: http://www.dolby.com/entertainment-n...l-overview.pdf. It's actually dimmer control technology for LCDs utilising local rather than global backlight control.

Whoops! I wish I had a screen that size but I don't think I could fit that anywhere. It's 56", of course.
