I bought a Panasonic camcorder - the D-snap. It is a nice little unit - but the software BLOWS CHUNKS!!!!!! I'm not talking little ones, I'm talking about the big soggy unidentifiable ones with strands of mucus that smell rancid and have different shades of red, brown and green.
Yes - it is that bad.
Media Stage is not only a clunky program - it also stores all of your movie files to a mysterious hidden folder which cannot be found by your OS search - even if looking for hidden folders. Want to back them up? Forget it.
The file format it uses is some whack obsucure thing which must be converted to WAV if you ever want to view it again - and forget about burning it to DVD.
Then - if your install disk is damaged or lost and you want to reinstall it? Forget it - there is nothing on the Panasonic site to download.
Email them for support and you get a canned reply "If you wants to order parts or accessories please call 1800 go-away"
Two years ago I had a quite good experience with their tech support. It is the only thing keeping my from turning my back on them just yet. I'll report back in a week and let you know it I just got a numbnut serice tech or if Panasonic has lost all touch with customer support...
(phew - feels good to get THAT out of my system)
