Disney TV DVD's Decline!

Dear Guys:

Have any of you noticed that there aren't as many as (Classic Disney) TV releases that there were a year ago? I'm talking about Rescue Rangers, Tailspin, Gummi Bears, Ducktales,

It took a year for the second collection of Dinosaurs to come out. And about the same for Tailspin and Ducktales. I'm still waiting for news about the third collection of Rescue Rangers and the second set of Gummi Bears.

I also thought Disney should start releasing some of their older series like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. But it seems that Disney just seems to want to release their A material, and not their B films like Dr. Syn Alias the Scarecrow, which has been on the waiting list for years.

Anyway, I think the House of Mouse have been releasing their older stuff more infrequently. Have any of you noticed this as well? Any guesses why?

If they ever came out with a Box Set for The Wonderful World of Disney (AKA The Wonderful World of Color) I'd buy it in a Heartbeat!

DVD Collection Inventory: TV Episodes - 14,957. Movies - 1,362. Serial Chapters 437

Market forces?
Jay's Movie Blog - A movie-viewing diary.
Transplanted Life: Sci-fi soap opera about a man placed in a new body, updated two or three times a week.
Trading Post Inn - Another gender-bending soap, with different collaborators writing different points of view.

"What? Since when was this an energy ball...

Re: Disney TV DVD's Decline!

I'm still waiting for them to release Flash Forward: The Complete Series on DVD. Their output of original Disney Channel-produced series is very poor. And if they did release it, it'll probably end up like "Avonlea" - severally edited. "Flash Forward" is another U.S./Canadian production, and its Canadian distributor is Alliance Atlantis (though they aren't any better). In fact, several smaller Canadian production companies were also involved.

If they continue to have no intention of releasing this excellent short-lived series, they should license it out to Shout! Factory. I think I've mention this title before to them but by e-mail. This series has a cult following and lasted for 26 1/2 hour episodes. Ben Foster and Firefly/Serenity/now Stargate: Atlantis actress Jewel Staite starred in this. Two other people who would go on to the "Stargate" franchise: Amanda Tapping had a hilarious recurring role as "Miss Yansouni" and writer Robert C. Cooper, who wrote my favorite episode of the entire series, "Presents". (I would love an audio commentary by Robert, Ben, Jewel, and director Ron Oliver, who appears in this episode as "Mike Miller").

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

A lot of the elements that made up Wonderful World of Disney has been released. You have to look up the episode guides.

And a lot have not. I doubt I'll ever see some of the ones I used to love, like "The Horsemasters" with Annette Funicello.

Re: Disney TV DVD's Decline!

I wish Disney would hurry up and start releasing the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, since they have retained the rights to the series.

BCI would also be a good company for Disney to license this to. The few reviews I've read concerning their recent release of Day Break: The Complete Series, they really did an outstanding job.

I should probably copy and paste this over to the "What's next for BCI?" thread. David, how's about BCI taking on "Flash Forward" next?
