OK GUYS, ARE THERE ANY SIGNIFICANT DIFFERNECES BETWEEN THE TWO WHEN IT COMES TO HIGH DEF SIGNALS, RESOLUTION,BRIGHTNESS,COLOR,ETC??
DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO UPGRADE MY RECIEVER

First thing, go easy on the CAPS key. All capitals is considered shouting and is bad etiquette. Next, the only difference you should see between HDMI and component is copy protected SD DVD's will not be upconverted over component and virtually all commercial DVD's are copy protected. Your HD disks should play in HD with little to no difference.
