Mark Knopfler: Kill to Get Crimson

Picked this up on vinyl yesterday and it's quite good (mastered by Bob Ludwig). It's very mellow but quite good as one would expect from Mark.

Anyone else like this album?

Re: Mark Knopfler: Kill to Get Crimson

I think it's a decent CD... very low-key and very folkish. It's hard to hate anything on this CD, but at the same time I'm not loving anything as well. There aren't any songs on this that's stuck in my head.

I still think his best solo stuff is Sailing to Philadelphia and Golden Heart, and I hope eventually Knopfler can return to the quality of those two albums.

Good to hear from you, Lee...I hope all is well!

I guess you can lump me in with the "better than most of the garbage out there, but certainly not Mark's best stuff" crowd. It just simmers for way too long without a rocking tune thrown in for good measure. I do however LOVE "Punish The Monkey"...what a great tune. Also, like most of his other stuff, it sounds pretty dang good, even on plain ol' CD. All that being said, I'd reach for "Philadelphia" or even "Shangri-La" before this one.
