The long delayed 'Galaxina' will hit HD DVD in January

Over a year delay and the cult classic 'Galaxina' is due to finally be released in January. The changes from the original announcement are 1080p (originally 1080i) and a new Dolby+ remix from the originally announced mono track. In addition, pricing will drop fro 24.99 retail to 19.99 retail. Good news from BCI.

The delay has turned out out to be a blessing in disguise, with BCI bumping up the disc's video to full 1080p/VC-1 (it had previously been announced as 1080i only), and also adding a remixed Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 surround track in addition to the original Dolby 1.0 Mono.

This will be on my (he says a little embarrassed) must have list.

Isn't it now a "28th Anniversary Edition"?

Good to see some cheap, oddball movies coming out, although the one I had actually pre-ordered from BCI's first wave had been the Sonny Chiba Golgo 13 movie.

I had preordered the Chiba/Sue Shiomi masterpiece Sister Street Fighter myself.

Hey--they're including the original mono on Galaxina! That's awesome. I hope they do that when/if they follow through on the rest of their initial offerings, martial arts movies of the 70s and 80s should ideally be heard in glorious mono (my beef with the Enter the Dragon HD DVD was a lack of a mono track, unless you spoke French or Spanish.)

Wait, so why is BCI putting out Sister Street Fighter on Blu-ray? The HD DVD crowd likes cult American films, the Blu-ray crowd likes cult Asian films?

That's great news! I hate the movie but hope this leads to many more in the same catagory coming out.

This actuallly came out! I know because I have it in my possession this very second. And just when I was starting to think I couldn't trust BCI anymore....
