Sam's FORMAT NEUTRAL Christmas in October giveaway! =)

Heyas all. I've been very fortunate to receive a bunch of swag and other items lately as both my reviewer position and having attended the EMA show and some other events. I've got about 15 or so sealed media that are either dupes of things I already have or I simply know I will never get to. Note that none of these are review copies, they are full retail versions or giveaways with no strings attached.

I'd like to share the wealth a bit and give back to HTF that has been so good to me personally. So, over the next week or so I will randomly post a giveaway in this thread and the first reply FROM A PERSON WHO ALREADY HAS A DECK that can play that particular media will claim it. I'll even eat the shipping, though it will probably come your way on a slow boat from china =) Also to avoid any chicanery, you had to be a registered HTF member BEFORE this thread is first posted.

I have HD DVDs, BDs, DVDs and even a playstation3 game to share, so please only claim something if you can actually use it. One prize per household and all decisions by me in case of any controversy are final and this contest is neither sponsored by, endorsed or probably even known about by the hosts here at HTF. The prizes are in no particular order and I make no claim how often I will give em away but all should be gone within a week. We'll start kinda slow but I promise that the last giveaway will definitly be worth waiting for! =)

Prize #1: Giveaways from Digital Life in NYC, at the HD DVD 18 wheeler they were giving aways sets of "Freedom 1 & 2", interesting anime showcases on HD DVDs if you sat through their 10 minute demo. They are 25 minutes long each and apparently are the beginning of a franchise series, tho I havent watched my copy yet so I make no claim as to how good they are, but it looks neat for sure! I grabbed a copy for myself and a friend gave me their set as they are not HD ready, or into anime at all. So, first person who wants to check out 2 anime HD DVDs, can actually play them and would actually get a big kick out of this genre gets em.

Dante's Peak (CE) - I've replaced this with my HD review copy, never watched it.
The Transporter - Got this on BD from the EMA show
LOTR Fellowship of the Ring (2 Disk version) - Somehow I bought 2 copies

So, how do you win prize pack #2? Well, if you promise that somehow miraculously you dont have any of these three titles in your collection and dont have them on HD either =) simply be the first to piost:

I wouldn't mind Dante's Peak, but I live in the UK, so shipping would likely be expensive, nevermind.

Prize #4: Pirates of the Carribean #2 BLU RAY

Only the sequel, not the first one =) There was a copy of this in the goody bag at the EMA show and another one in the box with our decks, I can only use one so this copy is up for grabs. All above rules are in effect, and the phrase to win is:

"Aye Matey, I be having a Blu Ray deck or PS3 and I'll take it. Arrrr!"

All four prize packs will ship today if I get a winner fast and they PM me their address.

I have received Mr. Carter's PM and all disks ship today for prizes 1-4.



There are at least 3 more prizes tho I am uncertain when the last of them will go as I have not received it yet. Could be a day or two for the next prize so dont sit around jamming F5 all day, fulfilling Mr. Cooper's prediction =) The next winners will happen along this thread at the right time I hope, and not be a refresh addict =)

OK, Sorry there were no prizes yesterday, there will be TWO today and a few (heh) tomorrow, including the big one.

Prize #5: Madden NFL 07 for PS3 (ie last years version!) I got this bundled with my PS3 and never broke it open since I am mostly a FPS and action gamer when it comes to consoles. Since then of course this has gone on to become one of the biggest discounted titles, oops =) Anyway if you havent played it yet its new to you!

If you are up for a little gridiron on the big iron, just say:

That's cool. I saw Sam's post earlier this afternoon and thought about jumping on it, but decided I wouldn't have much time to play it and that someone else might get more out of it. I'm glad it worked out for you to get it Gabe. And Sam let me add my voice to those thanking you for doing this. It is kind of you "to share the wealth."

Prize #6 is a copy of Seabiscuit on HD DVD. This is the copy that we got sent to us by the fine folks at Toshiba as part of the EMA promotion, and as such they have scratched the UPC to show that it cannot be taken to a retailer for a refund. Other than that it is a fully unopened copy. Hopefully the winner can accept that and not be too bummed out about it =) I reviewed this film and found it to be excellent, so hopefully one scratch wont make that big a deal.

Speaking of babies, prize #7 is Million Dollar Baby on HD DVD. Hated this movie when I saw it on DVD, it came bundled with my A1 and I never opened it. I'm sure there's someone out there who will appreciate it more than I will, so if that's you, all you gotta do is say:

"Sock it to me, I've got an HD DVD deck and I'll take it".
