Pixar Shorts: Vol. 1 due 11-6-2007

Rating: 0
On November 6, a collection of all the great Pixar short films is due to be released.

From UltimateDisney.com
Quote:
Contains 13 Pixar CGI shorts: The Adventures of
Andre & Wally B., Luxo Jr., Red's Dream, Tin Toy, Knick Knack,
Geri's Game, For the Birds, Mike's New Car, Boundin', Jack-Jack
Attack, One Man Band, Mater and the Ghostlight, Lifted; 16:9, DD 5.1,
commentaries, featurette, behind-the-scenes; $29.99 SRP

Does anyone know if the original Knick Knack will be included on this disc--as opposed to the edited version which was released on the Finding Nemo DVD?

It will be a treat to have these all gathered in one place.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

On the thread about the Blu-ray edition, the word was that it's the "reduced" Knickknack.
Jay's Movie Blog - A movie-viewing diary.
Transplanted Life: Sci-fi soap opera about a man placed in a new body, updated two or three times a week.
Trading Post Inn - Another gender-bending soap, with different collaborators writing different points of view.

Without the original "Knickknack" this is pretty useless. I've been holding on to my original Toy Story LD boxset for that alone.

Is the "breast reduction" the only difference from the original?

Too bad none of the Pixar TV commercials are collected.

The only two shorts not available elsewhere are: The Adventures of Andre & Wally B. and Red's Dream. Both are very early Pixar works.

I'm looking forward to a better looking Geri's Game. The bug's life release was not anamorphic - that always bugged me when I watched it.

Kind of off-topic, but regarding the cover image in the first post. It's obviously taken from Amazon, as it has those white borders on the side. But here's a hint: when copying the image URL, remove everything between .jpg and the previous dot (including the dot), like so:

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51zHwGMNmRL._SS500_.jpg

Remove ._SS500_ and you'll get just the cover. I don't know why they add this useless padding, but they've started this practice a while ago and now I see this on a lot of other forums and it's kind of bugging me.

But maybe it's just me

Done!

I would guess 99% of the people reading this thread won't care, Paul, but that is very useful information for me. Thanks.

This has just been released in Germany. I bought it today. What is the difference between "the original " Knicknack and the "reduced" version - please give details. Thanks.

IMDB has the answer:

Quote:
The original version (available on the Tiny Toy Stories tape) features two exaggeratedly "endowed" woman-souvenirs - a sunbather and a mermaid (the later barely covered with a starfish). In the version featured at the beginning of the "Finding Nemo" theatrical release (and likely the future video release), the sunbather is flatchested and the mermaid has had reduction surgery and is now covered (a la The Little Mermaid) with a clamshell top.

They were, however, available on the Toy Story laserdisc box set.
