Smallville - Season 7 thread

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
With TV on DVD, there's plenty of good TV content to watch during the strike. It may not be free, but it's available. And for those who (like me) buy TV on DVD, this is what you bought it for... so you could go back and watch it again. There's very little I feel like going back to watch on Smallville. There's maybe 3 episodes off the top of my head I'd like to see again, and that's Justice (I don't remember if the real thing met my expectations), and the 2 episodes with Alicia (sp?).
Studios, caption your internet streams.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
That's what I mean. I have been watching so many current new shows, not enough time to watch some of my older favorites. Now I may have the time. Of course, soon I'll be watching XMAS specials and movies.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Greg, you scared the hell out of me, I was about to break something thinking that I missed a new episode of Smallville.

My plan would have worked only had you broken something.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Believe it or not, but there's a new episode of Smallville tonight! Episode name is "Gemini".(Just one more bump in case people didn't realize we get a new episode before it goes on "hiatus" due to the WGA strike).

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Great episode tonight! It was Bizarro the entire time...the fiend!I knew that Clark was acting a tad on the malicious side when Lana wanted to give up on Lex and Clark insisted that they keep going with the investigation, that just didn't seem like something Clark would do.
Jor El wasn't kidding when he talked about consequences. I just can't pin this man down, it's been 6 seasons since we were introduced to Jor El and he still remains an enigma. But i'm wondering if it was him who imprisoned Clark in that block of ice, that's particularly harsh even for Jor El.
So let me see if I follow this whole thing, Julian isn't the real Julian but a clone, right? The actual Julian (the one Lex's mother gave birth to that is) is still dead?
Loved Chloe tonight, she looked sexy as hell in that Santa's little helper outfit.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
I was hoping to see Chloe do some crying, but I guess that's not quite how her power works. This was a strange episode (hated Lois carrying most of the episode, though).
Does Biz have all of Clark's memories? I guess so.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
IIRC, we've seen Chloe use her power once before, to bring Lois back. Has she been experimenting with it to see how it works? Otherwise, the fact she knew how to heal Jimmy's finger makes no sense.Truth be told, I hated nearly 90% of the episode. Erica Durance is a capable actress, but she was thrown into a half baked story entirely predicated on Clark not being Clark. And this story with Julian/Grant...it can go to the dogs. This entire season feels like a bad dream.
The only redeeming part of the episode? The last five seconds. And to think we have to wait until January for new Smallville.

Strike related. 15 episodes are done. "Gemini" was episode 9, meaning there are six more in the can.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
I hated this episode GeminiI was actually bored to tears.
So if this is Bizzaro Clark, then why would he rescue Chloe and Jimmy?
But I did like Lois's line about how the guy she chooses in the future WON'T be working with her

I have to kinda agree this season is all over the Map, I thought they were going to point Clark on a Path of Training toward his eventual destiny, then wrap it all up next year. But they are just spinning their wheels.

Every season has had an overall arc of some kind, no matter how uninvolving it might have been (looking at you, Season 4). I don't understand what the issue is this year, from a creative perspective. I can forgive a lot of the mistakes the show makes, but this is just getting flat out boring.
What's the driving force behind the season? Aside from the "path to hero-dom," we still don't know. And it's driving me nuts.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
This episode was pretty eh. No offense to Welling, but I knew within seconds that it wasn't Clark who returned. Clark is always bland, and when Welling throws in a smirk or two, it has to be someone else. When he flew up the stairwell, any room for doubt was gone. I was banking on it being Milton Fine, but it was Bizarro instead.I also wondered why he bothered to rescue Chloe. He could have just pretended he didn't know they were in there. I think that whole subplot was there just to put Chloe back with the guy who won't be named. Yuck. And, her power is now a little better than "I cry, I die, you heal," but it still kind of sucks. I wish they would have just dropped that whole thing.
I don't think Grant being a clone is the point of this. I think Lana will end up being a clone, or at least will be made to think she is one for a while. I bet Lex made her and improved upon the original, in his mind, by adding in a cutthroat edge. It's the only thing that makes sense. Little, gentle, not particularly smart Lana, running a clinic and talking about how her "team" quarantined and is studying the Venomized woman. Doesn't ring very true to me. Of course, you can't rule out just plain bad writing.

I'm not so sure that was flying. I think that may be considered a "power "leap"
I'm going to watch again right now to see.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Neat: Chloe joins Superman's supporting cast. The Super-comics have had a long history of taking things from other-media adaptations - kryptonite and Jimmy Olsen come from the radio show, the crystaline Fortress of Solitude and the "S" being a Kryptonian symbol come from the Donner movie - and Kurt Busiek is arguably DC's best regular Superman writer right now. Chloe and Allison Mack have been the best thing about the show for years, so I think this has a pretty good chance of turning out well.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
My friend Lauren sent me the news about this earlier today, but you beat me to the punch.I've been waiting for this. I stopped reading Superman a while back--actually haven't cared for Busiek's run--but this'll draw me back.

So no new episodes until sometime in January?

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Busiek's run has occasionally been a tough slog - "Camelot Falls" just went on forever for no apparent interesting end - but his "Third Kryptonian" storyline was the most nifty addition to the mythology in a long time. Considering Super-fans only get Grant Morrison & Frank Quitely every few months (so Morrison doesn't qualify as "regular"), and Geoff Johns without a co-writer is proving to be a special kind of hell, it's nice to see he's the guy being entrusted with the best thing to come out of Smallville.

I bailed on Camelot, but I know a shop that keeps several months' worth on the stands, so I'll look for the Third Kryptonian. I know I won't miss out on Chloe in comics.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Ok, just watched the latest episode.. confusing.. I have a questionWarning Spoiler! Click to show
So is the implication that Julian that we see is basically a giant experiment and an artificial life form kind of creation from Lex the mad scientist??
12/18/07 at 5:15pm
Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Yep. He's a clone. Lex's brother died as an infant, and Lex tried to create a brother for himself. I think the larger point will be that this is groundwork for Lana also being a clone, which will probably be the cliffhanger. The answer in the season opener will probably be, "Nah, she wasn't a clone after all."

Nope. Tonight is a repeat of "Cure." Next week is a repeat of "Lara." Kryptonsite is saying either January 31 or February 7 for the next new episode.
