i dont know if i'll stay with it this season.i may just fast forward through anyting this supergirl, kara is in.
i cant stand looking at her and she is a terrible actress.
her odd looking face is much too distracting.
i just hope she isnt featured to prominently i too many more eps.
also i dont see her as naive, she just seems dumb.

Although that begs the question of why and how superpowered clone has all of real Lana's memories and desires.

If we go back to the end of S6 (Prototype), Wes Keenan was a clone if I remember right. He had all the memories and emotions of the real thing with superpower...I think.

Of course, exploding it with heat vision is just dumb; afterward, the same amount is still around, maybe including particles small enough to be inhaled.

Or, if the cold breath was cold enough, that would work, too. We get the Kryptonite closer to absolute zero and the electrons from the Kryptonite's radiation would slow down enough to not effect Clark.

Yeah, I know - it's not THAT cold.

I don't think she knows how to do that, she couldn't even use her super hearing until Clark showed her how.
Yeah, this ep was mainly filler but I really enjoy the stuff with Clark and Kara and I also liked Clark and Lana (if that is indeed her, the original Lana I mean lol) actually having a conversation about his powers, that was refreshing.
I HATE the new editior for the Planet! What a smug little bastard he is. My guess is that he get's fired and they finally bring in Perry White, once again played by Michael McKean I hope.
I know this is going to come off a little more pessamistic than you guys are used to from me about this show but Clark DOES become Superman in this incarnation of the story doesn't he lol? With all these Kryptonians showing up i'm getting confused.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Well, I guess I fall somewhere in between or opposite of those not liking the episodes so far, especially those with Kara. It seems to have picked up the action and pace somewhat and I enjoy that more than the long drawn out angst type shows that were bordorline Dawson Creek in feel.Anyway, I'll hang with it this year but I do hope Clark developes more into Superman and we get at least one season of him fully embracing his ultimate destiny.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
I've enjoyed the season so far, but the supermeangirls thing was not my favorite. I liked the rest of the episode.

And yet, she can Fly. I don't really understand that. More confusing, Clark doesn't seem at all bothered to know that other Kryptonians can fly, but he can't. I put myself (or just about anyone I can think of) in that situation and I see a crash course of effort taking place. Instead, Clark seems to react like "Everyone else from my planet can fly and I can't? *shrug* Oh well."

I kinda like that she can fly and he can't yet, it makes it more interesting to me because it demonstrates that some Kryptonians develope faster than others, much like humans do. As for Clark not caring that he can't fly, he's done his share of leaps and nothing happened so in that respect he has tried.
Plus it might have something psychological to do with it, if he still fears heights (which he shouldn't at this point) than his brain might be keeping him grounded, he might need to deal with that first. But I do understand where your coming from, i'd be on Kara's back to teach me how to do that if I were him.

Holy moly, that felt like the longest break-up ever on TV.It was kinda funny to see Dean Cain and Tom Welling mix it up on-screen, though Dean Cain's acting was a little hammy.
Lana is definitely up to something, but is it really Lana?
Has Lex really turned a new leaf, but gets misunderstood because of the baggage of his past won't let people see his turn for the better?
Kara and Redeyes need to get a room, or something.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Is it my imagination or did Editor Boy tell Jimmy the tickets would score major points with the boyfriend? Why does it feel like Chloe's story of not wanting to be a meteor freak anymore comes out of nowhere? Or am I just dense and missing stuff?
How many more people are going to have to warn Clark about Kara before he takes a hint? First it's Jor-El and now it's the Martian Manhunter. (Nice name drop, by the way.)
Why is Chloe-Jimmy feeling like a complete rehash of Clark-Lana? All she has to do is explain-calmly-what's going through her head. Any guy who keeps a box of the important things from his girlfriend deserves every chance in the world. (The entire ending with Jimmy and Chloe just hurts. It's called communication, guys. Get with the program.)
BRING BACK LOIS!
I don't buy for a minute Lex has changed in any way. My feeling is he's making sure information about 33.1 doesn't get out farther than it needs to.
Okay, how exactly did Lana do what she apparently did to the mansion, according to her last scene? Clones, China and now this. Could there be more than one of her running around?

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
The ending didn't hurt me at all. GOODBYE, JIMMY. I was glad she didn't blurt out, "I'm a metoer freak" and fix it.The Chloe thing didn't come out of nowhere. She's been afraid of going nuts for years, and even moreso since finding out she was infected. She thinks all meteor freaks go nuts, which does appear to be the case, though there's probably been an example or two of a powered person who wasn't a freak of the week. The little boy who was being forced to use his powers to rob, for one.
I think Lex wants to change, but I think Patrick is right that he won't get the chance. It was kind of nice seeing him interact with Clark without all the anger and hatred, though it was still present from Clark's side.
Why is it that when actors or characters from previous incarnations show up, they are morally ambiguous or twisted in some way? Jor-El is sinister and conniving. Kara is possibly sinister and conniving. Perry White was a lousy drunk. Margot Kidder was nuts. Dean Cain was a serial killer. Christopher Reeve was enigmatic. Why can't they say, for once, "Here's Noel Neill, and she's just aces!" "Here's the Green Lantern and he's a purely good guy, no reservations!"
I'm a little tired of them taking their plots from movies. One season, we had Saw. This was kind of the Fountain tonight.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Greg-You've summed up what I thought. I don't mind interesting, murky storylines, but I sat for a couple weeks and watched all the episodes and was really surprised at how.. basically evil some of the "good guys" come off as. (Green Arrow and his group came off as complete goons / thugs in the episodes I saw)
Lana's stuff needs to resolve in something big or at least kind of understandable because this is becoming really hokey.

I do wonder how his character became immortal though. Is he yet another alien species that can look human? Did something happen during the Roman times that made him like that? Was there an earlier meteor shower when the guys who made the caves came that infected him?

Greg, you and Adam are right, of course. I had a brain fart and realized it in bed last night.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Tonally, this episode was all over the map. I was wondering how wacky it was going to get after Lionel is recaptured because Lionel's subplot conjured up "Misery" for me.The use of Warrior Angel comics to push Clark into accepting his impending fate a super hero was a little hamfisted, but the wink to the audience was funny enough to me. Lex's comic collection was hilariously over-the-top in terms of comic book preservation and display purposes.
Lana is all wonky and hellbent on exacting revenge, when will Clark wise up that he's shacking up with a very driven woman with bad intentions on her mind.
Lana seems to accept her place in the development of the classic hero, their assumption of the mantle usually comes at great personal tragedy that drives them to set things right and keep the battle between good and evil in balance.
Nice cape.

But then he carelessly jerks it out of the plastic sheath and hands it to Clark? No way. "Uh-tut-tut. *I'll* turn to the proper page and you can look from there." Also, tracking comic sales? Come on. A local comic shop has a VG copy of Giant-Size X-Men 1 for $600, and if I wanted to buy it using cash, the sale wouldn't be tracked in any way. I wouldn't even give my name. Also, thousands of comics are bought and sold on eBay every day--some of them for a pretty penny--and the sales aren't tracked beyond the screen name you can see if you click on the auction.
Also thought of Misery when Lionel was beartrapped to the bed. Lana's a bad, bad person.
Clark's kind of a jerk, too. First, Chloe fishes for sympathy about Jimmy, and he just kind of nods like, "Yeah, whatever." Then, he gets a cape for a present and just leaves it hanging on the fence. Bad Clark. Also, jumping and landing. Come on, man. Just fly already.
In spite of all that, I was enjoying watching it. Shrug.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
The Warrior Angel part was a little too cute for my tastes, but there were two really strong parts of the episode. The first was the triumphant return of Lionel Luthor, the only member of the older generation who still clings on as a regular. Him dragging the bear trap off his hand was dark, but then him literally beating Marilyn to death Suicide Slums style in front of Lex had to be one of the darkest moments in the series. I couldn't believe they got away with that on air.
I do wonder about Lana's motivations. The irony of the reversed roles between her and Clark is obvious, but we don't know what game she's playing. Lionel mentioned retribution. Retribution against who? Clark? Lex?
I also loved the way he saved her, powering down from the roof and then catching her in a shot the way a perfect match to Superman catching Lois in the 1978 film, with the added touch of him landing on the car here since he can't fly.

Yup, I was literally yelling at the TV when Chloe found Cosmic Comics. Dude, comics don't have serial numbers or anything like that. You *can't* track them even if you wanted to.
Okay, so was the Lana in the cornfield *our* Lana or someone else? Right now, I'm so confused about this storyline it's not even funny. She's (or versions of Lana) are playing each side against each other. In one moment she's snogging Clark, making Lex angry; the next she's been paying Marilyn to keep Lionel hostage, which Lionel knows about.
10/26/07 at 6:16am
Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
Yeah, I can't figure that Lana storyline out either. Although, if history is any indicator, I have a feeling I won't be thrilled with how the writers resolve it...Quote:

Does anyone know if CW re-airs SMALLVILLE anytime before the next one shows next Thursday. My frickin' cable company had a problem with this station last night and I didn't get to see it.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
I *think* you can get them online here at the CW website. It's something called the director's cut. My guess is that's a longer version of the episode.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread
The lana thing is both weird and not entertaining at all (IMHO). Either something needs to happen where we sort out WTF is going on, or it will just solidify to me that the writers are 100% winging it.

This is the part that was the most unrealistic for me.
From the naming of the comic character: Warrior Angel is the most UN-Golden or Silver Age name for a character EVER!
And the covers don't even look vaguely Golden or Silver Age, but they would have to be if they really had some noteworthy value.
Even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles aren't "worth a fortune"
Also, Rosenbaum's Lex as a comic-book fan is about as believable as, well, Fox Mulder as a comic book fan.
Just watch this week's episode of Beauty and the Geek for an example of the real fan's excitement/passion that Lex totally failed to exude.
Now of course you could take the whole thing as a depiction of a man who's lost the childish glee he used to take in his collection, storing them in a sterile environment that he hasn't even looked at in 7 years, and eventually giving them away because he no longer feels anything when he looks at them, thus telegraphing Luthor's future persona, but considering how badly handled the whole thing was, I choose not to take it that way.
