| But there are more Darlings where they came from, and whether it is William Baldwin's philandering politician, Samaire Armstrong's ditzy actress or Glenn Fitzgerald's hypocritical minister, they are all stock characters with matching standard-issue problems. And it's hard not to think less of Nick for bailing them out. Wright's dialogue has a great curdled wit, and the actors dish it out with real style. But it is tough to root for a hero you're not sure you respect, and it's almost impossible to put up with difficult characters you know you will never like. |
