Now that WB has released Smallville (Season 6) on HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, does anyone know if they'll go back and release Season 5 on Blu-Ray as well?
The reason I'm asking is this: According to the High-Def Digest review I read on the image quality of the HD-DVD release (of Season 5) it's got some major pixilation during fast motion sequences and especially during explosions.
I wonder if WB would release a brand new (less compressed) transfer on Blu-Ray for Season 5 which doesn't have the major pixliation and/or macro-blocking that the HD-DVD has.
I also saw screen caps, I don't know if it was on here or on the AVS forum of how bad the macro-blocking / compression noise was and my jaw hit the floor when I saw how terrible it was.
I haven't bought it yet, which is why I'm asking all of you if you know if they'll release it on Blu-Ray with less compression.
As far as Season 6 goes, I hear from High-Def Digest that they used the same exact transfers/bitrates (including sound) for both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, so either way you went, you'd be getting the same quality. But if Season 5 has a chance of looking better, then I'd prefer to wait instead of spending $50 on something that I'll just have to buy again when it hits Blu-Ray.
