The Princess Bride - 20th Anniversary Edition

Can't believe it's been 20 years!

This is one of my all time favorite movies, but I am leery of the need for a double dip. I bought the "Special Edition" years ago and resisted the "Buttercup" and "Dread Pirate Roberts" editions last year.

Anybody know what is "new" for this release? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

Re: The Princess Bride - 20th Anniversary Edition

New extras for the re-release:
"Dread Pirate Roberts" featurette (11:43)
"Battle Of Wits" interactive game
"Love Is Like A Storybook" featurette (16:43)
"Miraculous Makeup" featurette (11:22)
"Fezzik's Guide To Florin" booklet

Not sure if it's worth upgrading since the SE had the 2 commentaries and some "making of" featurettes which are also included in this release.

The recent "Dread Pirate"/"Princess Buttercup" edition(s) also has a brand-new transfer over the last one.

Great film, but just give us one decent release. Luckily for me I skipped all the previous editions, though. (Makes a change!)

Serious question, does anyone know what's been re-released more, this or Holy Grail?

Technically Holy Grail has only been triple dipped (the other releases were just repackagings with the same old discs) so it still trails Rocky.

This will be the third time I buy this film on dvd. If there is an HD, or Blu-ray release, I'll buy that too. You can never have enough Princess Bride.

That cover art is awesome!

I shall await the BD edition though. No word on that yet?

I've got the Dread Pirate Edition already, but that cover art is almost enough for me to double dip.

Agreed, the artwork is VERY cool...might be enough to ask Santa for this new version...technically, only a double dip for me...

Re: The Princess Bride - 20th Anniversary Edition

Very very cool artwork. I first saw the artwork on The Digital Bits, and after looking at it for a second, started wondering "Have they done what I think they have done", and ended printing it out just to confirm that they did. Very nice work, whoever designed the title.

Re: The Princess Bride - 20th Anniversary Edition

Not nuts about the logo, but I like the cover art. As for dipping again, I'll have to wait for an HTF review before I decide.

Re: The Princess Bride - 20th Anniversary Edition

Same here. I appreciate the irony that it's taken this long for the Princess Bride to wind up back in the hands of Fox.

Re: The Princess Bride - 20th Anniversary Edition

Just picked this up the other day.
Not bad. I skipped the Dread Pirate edition(which seems to have the most special features) but the features on this aren't bad, and the PQ is quite nice.
Looking forward to the Blu-Ray version (hopefully it's released this year) which I suspect will be the last release for a long....long time!
