IF ONLY LIFE WERE AS EASY AS PIE . . .

WAITRESS

Fox Home Entertainment Serves Up The Critically Acclaimed, Deliciously Sassy Story Of Self-Transformation On DVD November 27, 2007

CENTURY CITY, Calif. – A favorite of critics and audiences alike, Waitress, the irresistible film filled with delicious spunk, arrives on DVD November 27, 2007 from Fox Home Entertainment. This “vibrant and uplifting comedy” (Entertainment Weekly) follows the day-to-day realities of a small town woman who ultimately transforms her seemingly hopeless life into a hilarious and unexpected love story. “Both satisfying and surprising . . . a movie that leaves you feeling good” (The New York Times), Waitress is a whimsical romantic comedy that reveals the power of friendship, motherhood and the willingness to take a chance.

The final film of actress/writer/director Adrienne Shelly (Factotum, The Unbelievable Truth), Waitress stars Keri Russell (The Upside of Anger, “Felicity”) as Jenna, a simple diner waitress stuck in a lousy marriage whose only solace is baking scrumptious pies. Aptly naming her delectable desserts after her daily emotions, Jenna hopes to one day win the local pie-baking contest earning $25,000 and a fresh start. Concocting a recipe for a new life gets difficult though when she finds herself not only pregnant with her good-for-nothin’ husband’s child, but also in love with the town’s awkwardly charming new OB-GYN. While Jenna’s “I Don’t Want Earl’s Baby” pie might not secure her the grand prize, her “Kick In The Pants” pie may be just what she needs.

Waitress also features a dynamic supporting cast including EmmyÒ-nominee Cheryl Hines (“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” RV), Nathan Fillion (“Firefly,” Serenity), Jeremy Sisto (Thirteen, “Six Feet Under”) and classic television star Andy Griffith (“The Andy Griffith Show,” “Matlock”). Waitress arrives on DVD brimming with bonus features such as a “Making Of” the film, actor and director profiles, featurettes and more. Available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S/$43.48 Canada, prebook is October 31, 2007.

Marketing Support
Fox Home Entertainment will support the Waitress DVD release with a comprehensive marketing program that encompasses network and cable television, print and online, plus a multifaceted publicity campaign.

Waitress
Don’t miss writer/director Adrienne Shelly’s sweet, sassy comedy about the power of friendship, motherhood and second chances, starring the radiant Keri Russell who serves up “a hilarious and heartfelt performance” (Rolling Stone). Jenna (Russell), a small-town waitress with big dreams, has an uncanny gift for baking out-of-this-world pies. Her secret ambition is to win a $25,000 contest, so she can leave her obnoxious husband, open her own pie shop and transform her life. A chance meeting with a handsome newcomer to town just might supply the right ingredients to help Jenna find true happiness.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Waitress

Thanks to Yumbo for pointing out that the "fine print" confirms that a Widescreen version will be available depsite the body of the press release saying that it will be full screen or "full color screen" whatever that means. It is amazing to me how often these PR contain errors that simple proofreading would catch.

It's also a shame that Andy Griffith didn't contribute any bonus features. He stole the picture in my opinion. "Waitress" was easily my wife and I's favorite theatrical release of 2007. It is a wonderful story and a wonderful piece of filmmaking. It never got beyond limited release and I hope that the $30 price tag doesn't keep it from finding its audience on DVD.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Waitress

I wish someone would release a watchable DVD of Adrienne Shelly's other film "Sudden Manhattan". It wins my "best movie with the worst transfer"' award. Absolutely horrible full frame release with a ton of picture information missing on both sides compared to a letterbox version I saw on cable. There should be a law against transfers that are that bad!

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Waitress

No official review of this one yet, huh?
I didn't know if I would care for this one but took a chance and rented it. Loved it. Nice little quirky dramedy. Keri Russell was amazing. Andy Griffith was perfect as well.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Waitress

For anyone who picked this up....were there sound synch issues in your copy in certain spots? I plan on exchanging mine but am curious if this was a widespread issue or not. The video looked very nice but it was distracting having the dialog not match the mouths from time to time.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Waitress

Wonderful movie. No glitches when I watched.

WORST transfer goes to NANNY DIARIES. What is up with that?

Cool. I'm gonna be picking it up today after work and I'd hate for something like this to "ruin" my sister's first viewing of the movie on Monday.
