Hi I was hoping someone out there could help me with my problem, I decided to go vintage because my polk audio surround system was not cutting it for music. so I picked up a vintage pioneer sx-1010 reciever and a pair of sansui vintage speakers from the same erra, unbelievable is all I can say about the sound, the music sounds like your at a live concert,ok here is my problem I hooked up my DVD player and it sounds terriblie distorted tinny garrgled you name it, I tryed every variation of hooking it up possible I have my TV running through the reciver and it sounds great it s a new samsung HD flat panel so I figured ok I will hook up the DVD player into the tv and let the sound come out of the TV as the TV sounds fine but no way it still sounds terrible on the DVDs , I have tryed 2 different DVD players and am having the same problem, almost all of the dvds I watch are concerts and music footage so I was expecting this to sound good this way does anyone have any ideas what I can do to solve this problem ??

Check the audio settings on the DVD player. You might have it set for multichannel output among other things. Also, try a different input on the receiver. And make sure you don't have it connected to the phono input.

I have tryed all the inputs as I stated ,now I have even put them through the input on the TV which is already hooked into the receiver and the TV sounds perfect but the DVDs still sound terrible so its some kind of incompatabilty between the receiver and DVDs any Ideas?
