32" HD LCDs?

While at BB looking for TVs for the living room, I thought, why not something for the bedroom. So I was looking at 32 inchers and noticed none of them are 1080p, is this pretty much standard? Is 1080p a waste on a 32" TV?

BTW, of the 32" TVs, I found the Samsung LNT3242H the most pleasing. BB was selling it for $949.

I can't say if 1080p is a waste on a 32", but there are 1080p sets available. Sony makes the Bravia XBR KDL-32XBR4 and Sharp has the Aquos LC32D62U, for a couple examples. In terms of price, Amazon has the Sony for $1119 and the Sharp for $1049.

By the way, the Samsung you were looking at is only $789 at Amazon.

Doesn't the resolution have to be 1920x1080 to be full 1080p? Both these 32" sets are 1366x768. Maybe you just can't pack that much resolution into a 32" screen.

Yes the resolution has to be at least ...x1080 to be 1080p but most native 720p sets do 1080i exceptionally well, and being that 1080 is 1080, it doesn't matter unless you just have to have 1080p now. If you are future-proofing, a 1080p set is good to have. If you're not a purist, you can most likely go with a 720 native set displaying at 1080i and won't notice the difference.
