Don't know if this is the best place for that question, but I would think your TV should be fine for Blu-ray (for the forseeable future) though it might not yield the best possible picture. Quite a few folks, including myself, are still using 1080i CRT-based RPTVs -- many w/ just component video inputs -- for viewing BDs (and HD DVDs too). While there is the eventual possibility that studios *might* put out BDs that disable 1080i output via component video and require use of HDMI (much like it's done for DVD upconversion), that's probably not gonna happen anytime soon, if ever, and shouldn't affect whatever titles released before then anyhow -- and chances are you'd have a new TV by then.
Hmmm... I had assumed your RPTV is CRT-based, but maybe it's one of the other variety like LCD or DLP. Anyway, it should work fine though it again might not yield the best possible picture depending on its actual performance/resolution capability...

PS: I probably shouldn't be answering any questions here since I'm not an insider though this wasn't exactly an insider-type question (and it seems Paidgeek is too busy these days...).

Hi, paidgeek.
The Starship Troopers 3: Marauder trailer is now up at the official site. I noticed it says just "coming to DVD." Will it be getting a Blu-ray release as well?
I thought maybe Starship Troopers was delayed in anticipation of this sequel.

Actually I do not have this title, but I have been thinking about getting it. I was also thinking about getting Airforce One as well as it is another region all import blu-ray. Money is just really tight but I am considering both titles.

I was content to wait a few months and not pay $30-$40 for it. Plus there's a chance we'll ge more content on the Sony release.

I have it, it's pretty good but I have the feeling a Sony release would be better. Speaking of imports, I just ordered Mel Brooks The Producers blu-ray from Japan (the new musical not the first movie). I am excited, PCM and a high bit rate.

Re: ***Official Blu-ray insiders thread
1) Does Warner Bros. have any solid plans to release Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch on Blu-ray? If the rumored unsold cartoon pilot "Gizmo and the Gremlins" really does exists and is available, then I really want it to be included as an extra, along with more deleted scenes (I want to see the scene in the first movie where the mogwai walk past the parents' room and then turn into furry balls and bounce down the stairs luring Billy's dog Barney outside, as well as Mr. Wing's funeral in the second movie), and extensive documentaries very much like "Unleash the Beast" from the Howling Special Edition (not WB, but still an excellant documentary of a film that was also directed by Joe Dante).
2) Any plans for any classic animation (or any animation beyond recent theatrical films) from Warner Bros.?
3) Will Japanese studios like Toho, Toei, and Kadokawa-Herald Pictures be releasing any of their classic (as well as more recent) tokusatsu (special effects) and Kaijuu (strange, monsterous beasts) films and TV series on Blu-ray in the forseeable future, even if only in Japan?
That's all for now.
Warner Home Video: Please release complete sets of Taz-Mania, Road Rovers, Histeria, Duck Dodgers, Dexter's Lab, Cow & Chicken, What-A-Cartoon, Cartoon Network’s Big Pick, Saturday Pants, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and a complete uncut Tex Avery set (with correct colors and NO DVNR)
