Hello everyone. I'm looking for some help on a good quality receiver to use for my home theater. I've got a great set of KEF 3005 home theater speakers, but I found that my old amp does not seem to give them great sound. I currently have a JVC unit that is about 10 years old.
The KEF speakers have an RCA input for the sub and my receiver has an RCA output for the sub, but I get nothing out of it. The only way I get any sound from the Sub is to use the old one and connect the speaker output from the receiver to the input on the sub. Then the output on the sub to the actual speakers. I seem to loose nearly all of the rear channel sound and get basically nothing in terms of surround sound.
I'm trying to stay around $200 for the receiver. We've pumped a lot of money into the new house and with two kids, I can't go spend 500 or more on a receiver.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a good receiver in a lower cost range? We watch television, listen to music and watch movies on our home theater system (it's in our family room) so I need something that will work well for that. It must have an RCA output for the sub obviously and I'd like to be at 100w per channel. 7.1 is not necessairy but would be a bonus.
I'm not sure I wan't another JVC. It might be time for me to try another brand. We have a BestBuy, Circuit City and FRYs Electronics near us here in Arizona.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John
