Yeah, that's a pretty big snub. I still think it will get an Oscar nomination though. I was hoping against hope that Kate Bush's song from The Golden Compass, or Sinead O'Connor's song from that Waterhorse movie would get nominated. Ah well.

I've seen most of the movies that have opened, except for Elizabeth: The Golden Age (I wanted to see Elizabeth again first, but never got around to it) and A Mighty Heart (I never seemed to be in the mood for such a depressing film...hangs head in shame).

I've seen some of the ones that haven't opened, like Juno and The Kite Runner.

This is just about the only song I remember from the year. This of course says nothign of the nominees since I've not seen them (except Into the Wild and I sure as heck don't remember any song, except perhaps this great sequence of "ethnic" "screaming" on the top of the mountain thing, but that's more the score I think).

I don't ever take these awards too seriously but once again Herzog is overlooked, which makes the noms a joke to me. Not to mention Sean Penn and INTO THE WILD, which seems to be getting shut out everywhere. I've still got several of these films to catch up with but I find it hard to believe that RESCUE DAWN and INTO THE WILD could be beaten by six or seven other films.

Yes, if Herzog made it, it must be one of the best, though you've most likely not seen most of the other contenders. This doesn't even begin to make sense. But lot of that going around this time of year.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that Viggo deserves best actor this year. I haven't seen There Will Be Blood, but man I hope he doesn't get snubbed.

It makes plenty of sense if you read it. I said I find it doubtful that I'll see a better film than INTO THE WILD this year. I didn't say I wouldn't but I said doubtful.

So far I've seen 48 2007 theatrical releases (and counting) and Into The Wild isn't even in my top 20. Most of the GG noms are. Rescue Dawn is my 2nd least favorite of the year. Doesn't deserve a single nomination.

I thought Steve Zahn was fabulous in Rescue Dawn but otherwise I'm inclined to agree, especially upon hearing how they changed the story (lied) to make it more dramatic.

Pretty quiet this year, no? WGA strike maybe? I am just not hearing any kind of film or acting buzz. Usually by now we have an idea about who will be annointed in February. Right now, beside Ellen Page, zip. I couldn't even gather a list of potential BP noms (only Juno).

For me, the only lock for Best Picture nomination is "No Country for Old Men", and then it gets a little hazy.

There's no big consensus pick for 1-2 really strong films this year, and it's going to be a free-for-all in terms of campaigning to push the winnahs over the top in the balloting.

As usual, it was a really long and boring show. I wish they just dropped all the TV nominations and just present the movie stuff.

it was a terrible show and I greatly missed the pageantry and speeches, I also didn't like the random categories (best actor drama, best supporting actor film) where they didn't allow the clip with audio to be show just read the names over the clip. And they dropped the handful of technicals from the broadcast. shameful. And they couldn't have picked worst hosts if they tried, made me want to scream at the tv to shut the f up. And the chatter by the hosts and the cut to the EW commentators who discussed favorites and upsets during after or before the winner was announced was incredibly crass. There are going to be a lot of very pissed off people in hollywood at how sports-like that was.

And I'm still trying to figure out how Marion Cotillard was an underdog with the HFPA according to the commentators.

I liked the fact that Cate Blanchett won for "I'm Not There," which basically set the tone for the entire show.
