I watched the letterboxed DVD last night and my god does the non-anamorphic enhancement hurt the picture

I know MGM put out an anamorphic DVD of Back to School (before the SE)
just wondering if they snuck an anamorhpic Wargames by us.

Re: anamorphic Wargames?

I'm starting to think that anamorphic 'stealth' releases are a HTF myth.

Everytime I spot different packaging that claims newly added 16x9 support, it's wrong (Abyss, Outland, Freeway, Apostle).

And I never did find the mythic 'Back to School' 16x9...

To be fair, the claims of the 16:9 support on various re-releases of The Abyss weren't "newly-added"--the DVD has erroneously claimed to be 16:9 since the very first release!

A new special edition DVD was just released and includes a 16:9 transfer. It should be easy to find in the "new release" section of just about any major retailer. Off the top of my head, I know that my local Best Buy has them prominently out front right now.

I can unequivocally promise you this existed--I owned a copy until just recently (sold it and upgraded when the Extra-Curricular edition came out).
Ernest Hemingway once wrote, \"The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.\" I agree with the second part...

Re: anamorphic Wargames?

The 2010 anamorphic release was a big fake: At least in the original letterbox, the menu was anamorphic, but now that even isn't anamorphic and the movie still was not anamorphic (even though it says "enhnanced for..")
The only movie I know that snuck out as a new anamorphic was Event Horizon..
