Re: What's next for BCI?

So, do we know if the 1st Episode of Price is Right will be on the set? TVShowsOnDVD.com says it will be, but then there's the theory about the 3 non-fur First Week episodes that David seemed to think was correct.

Re: What's next for BCI?

I'm halfway through the Family Feud set. Richard Dawson is a funny guy. He loves to kiss the ladies, and his style of hosting the show, it seem he's got a really good alcohol buzz going at all times, just not quite drunk! I could watch much more of this show even without the famous people,(The Brady Bunch vs. Petticoat Junction is my favorite so far) really good stuff.
David, Do you know if more sets are planned?

Glad you're digging it!

If this set does well, I believe there are enough episodes left to do a 2nd All-Star set. I'm sure we'd include some Ray Combs celebrity episodes as well.

I'm not sure about a family vs. family set, because I don't know that enough people care to make it worthwhile.

Re: What's next for BCI?

David, has the set been finalized for March 25??? The reason im asking is because the feud set was pushed back, last November to just this month, but it was worth the wait !!!!!

Re: What's next for BCI?

I just got the All Star Family Feud box and it's great! I hope it's doing well and that we'll get a second volume (I'll echo the request for Ray Combs (and even Louie Anderson) episodes).
One minor issue I have is that there is no episode listing in the package. A comprehensive listing of episode air dates and contestants, and breakdown by disc, would have been nice to have in the booklet.

Yup. Would've been a great idea, but we totally screwed up and didn't do it.

Re: What's next for BCI?

I'm not going to buy it right away, but I'm excited about the release. Actually, several others on my 2buy list are ahead of it. Namely all the awesome live action/animated Saturday morning TV they've been making available. I'll be picking up Ark II and Dungeons & Dragons (finally!) in about a week. I certainly hope they will keep the old kid's TV and game shows coming. I'd love to see Scrabble with Chuck Woolery again.

Re: What's next for BCI?

Most pre order sites, list this set at a running time of 930 minutes. That seems like its wrong , because if there are only 7 hour long shows , and the rest are half hour ones, it comes out to alot less than even 800 minutes.

Re: What's next for BCI?

Wow! Those shots look really good. I won't be buying this set right away but I'll most likely snag it along with the Family Feud set before the year is out.

Is there a chance in hell Lets Make a Deal is next? Now that's one I'd snag as soon as I had the money.

I'm really liking BCI.

Well, considering all the releases so far are Goodson-Todman shows, I guess it would depend on whether or not BCI has/can licence LMAD from Sony.

One show I can see them licencing would be Dating Game, as that show often had celebrity guests and many of the '60s ones are still in good shape (unlike Newlywed Game, where the masters to the early ones are in poor condition).

Too bad BCI didn't licence (or try to locate) Joanna Cameron's appearance on The Dating Game as an extra for the Isis set! Captain Marvel (Jackson Bostwick) was also a contestant in the '60s!

I think Sony is a closed shop. And it's a shame, too. Their Jeopardy DVD doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.

I'm really going to enjoy the 1970s episodes with Barker. I really can't wait to see those. So...call me impressed with what they're releasing.

Re: What's next for BCI?

These would have to be taping dates, as the current show did not premiere until September 4, 1972. I think that's all Fremantle has to go by.

I hope it does well, and that this is the beginning of a series of sets. I have said before one set cannot do a 36-years-and-counting old show justice.

If ever they do release that show, I hope that that will be included as well as the appearance of Mantan Moreland.

Re: What's next for BCI?

Are any of the Hollywood Squares a possibility to ever get a DVD release either the 1965, 1983, 1986 or 1998 shows?

the original Peter Marshall version is now controlled by Sony. The 1983 version is still, I think, jointly owned, like Batman (by Mark Goodson Productions for Orion, whose rights fell to Sony, I think. Don't forget, the '83 version was the hybrid Match Game/Hollywood Squares, with the Match Game format itself also owned by Goodson). Don't remember who owns the other two versions.

Of all of these, MG/HS is probably least likely to get a release, since a deal would have to be struck with both Goodson and Sony (or whoever else inherited the other half of ownership).

bumping because I'm interested too. Just started watching Dungeons & Dragons. A very nice set.

I'd also love more stuff from my childhood like Ark II. That's ones outstanding. I"ll be picking up Space Academy and Jason very soon.

Re: What's next for BCI?

Ive Received my Price is right set in the mail today.Words cant express the fantastic picture quality, Ive only watched the first 1972 Barker show.Im assuming the picture quality will be just as good on the other episodes,It puts the feud set to shame .I dont know, maybe the masters for the feud set werent kept in good condition. But I read on another board, that in the 90s the price episodes were remastered, so maybe that explains it.Congrats to David Levine and Bci for this great set.My only minor complaint is no chapter stops, can I request that if this set does well , that on the next volume you have a couple chapter stops in each show ????
