SLINKY, are they making them smaller or steps larger?

Okay, so I bought a Slinky just for laughs a couple of weeks ago and every stair i've tried to make it walk down so far has been too big for it, it walks down one step and that's it, it doesn't have the reach to go down the next one.

So my question, as asked in the header, are they making Slinky smaller now or are they just making steps bigger these days? I used to make Slinky walk down stairs (and make that Slinkity sound ) with no problem as a kid.

Maybe you just have part of a slinky?

And I straightened it.

Well Egon, no answer to the question, but I have never been able to get one to go down more than two or three stairs.

And to do that I had to practically throw one end to get it to "reach."

Are we talking one of those cheap imitation plastic slinky or the original metal wire type.

No it's the metal one, it isn't brushed aluminum colored like they used to be, though, it's black. I wouldn't be caught dead with a plastic Slinky.

Metal Slinkys have that strange coppery taste. Plastic Slinkys taste much better.

Did you have a side order of paste to go with your Slinky's, Greg?

Heck i'm not one to talk, I used to eat Play Dough and Silly Putty lol.

Used to? You mean, I should stop?

I am serious that metal Slinkys taste funny, but I don't know why I know that. I have a plastic Slinky around here somewhere, but I've never tasted it. If I find it, I'll try it on the stairs. It's very old, though. Probably not a good test of how Slinkys function now.

I've seen this too many times where home inspectors don't do the Slinky test on stairs. Then you buy the house and all of a sudden some day you discover that the Slinky doesn't go down the steps because the steps are defective (can't be the Slinky). Oh the humanity...

Maybe they have shorter stairs in China?

You mean you'll try eating it while on the stairs or you'll try to make it walk down the stairs?

Somehow, I knew I should edit my post to make that clear, but I decided to let it ride.

Dip it in salsa first.

I never was able to get a Slinky to go down more than a few stairs myself.

I can tell you to never fall asleep with one. I did once when I was a kid, and woke up with it all tangled up in my hair.
