I know most of you are strong supporters of Blu-ray and would like this sort of information before it breaks in the press, but please understand that our relationship with film talent takes precedence over all else. You don't have to tell me, I've been around since the LD days when I wouldn't blink at paying those prices for the Criterion Halloween release, but I was young, dumb, and full of...expendable cash in those days. I think online renting has changed my buying habits where I will maybe buy 1 new HD disc a month than the 5-7 DVDs a month back in the day.

I'm sure a major reason for this is that - still - the majority of people buying the HD formats are only doing it to swoon over the PQ/SQ rather than because the film is, you know, actually good! Underworld: Evolution is always going to outstrip Forbidden Planet in sales under those conditions. A shame. |
