Things are kind of slow for Warner this year...

...at least concerning two-disc special editions. It's already July and what have we seen? Rio Bravo? Where are the SE for An American in Paris, LA Confidential, Bonnie & Clyde, Cool Hand Luke, Kubrick films, and all other films that were supposed to come out till the end of the year? Some of these should've been released last year, and still no word about it.

I'm looking forward to RAINTREE COUNTY the most...but that's coming next year. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.

Didn't they release 4 boxed sets in December last year? (Newman and Brando come to mind). They will probably do the same this year.

Hey Warner, hows about releasing Soldier In The Rain (1966) Starring Steve McQueen, Jackie Gleason and Tuesday Weld on DVD this year?
I'd settle for a single disc just to have it on DVD, used VHS copies are going for ~$50 on ebay....

"Prince of the City" was technically a 2-Disc Special Edition as well. Even more technically, so was "Alexander Revisited", which was marketed via the catalog folks at WBHV rather than the new release theatrical division. "This is Elvis" and "Elvis: That’s the Way It Is" have been announced for August.

New release theatrical 2-Disc SEs were: "The Departed", "Blood Diamond", and "Letters from Iwo Jima", with "The 300" announced for the end of July.

Keep in mind that HD may have something to do with the slowdown. Let's face it, even the mighty Warner only has so many resources to go around.

I was expecting some kind of announcement today. Still waiting for Dorian Gray, Executive Suite, I Married A Witch and I'll Cry Tomorrow.

The second half of the year looks to be crowed- LA Confidential and Poltergiest should be in September, the Kubricks are December, will probably see Cool Hand Luke and Bonnie & Clyde in September or October around the time of Blade Runner.

Is Dorian Gray expected to be a 2 disc special edition? I had no clue this is supposedly coming out this year...but it's great news!

We'd have to wait until an announcement cause WB never said if it would be a single or double disc edition.

All in due course boys and girls. Some good announcements have been made the last two or three weeks; Stanwyck, Lancaster, Bladerunner. Gives you time to save your money for the Chrissie period.

Give Warners a chance eh?

Well this thread was made before all those announcements were made. I definately can't say that now cause they've loaded us with new releases on the horizon. Fall/Winter is usually the best time of the year.

L.A. Confidential and Bonnie & Clyde are the only ones I'm waiting on accouncements for now. I expect those in in October for a Christmas release. The Blade Runner announcement makes me think its close as Blade Runner is a December release. We will soon see.

I am waiting on Cool Hand Luke and Bonnie and Clyde SEs for dad for Christmas, and The Candidate SE, L.A. Confidential and the Harlow collection for myself.

The longer they leave it, the better my financials will be
