The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-12-2007

Thanks, guys, but no new releases for me this week. Which is a good thing with the money I've spent at DD's 20% sale this week, not to mention the Six Feet Under set I ordered at Amazon yesterday.

Just for a laugh, this is a customer review for the Walker, Texas Ranger S3 release at Amazon:
Quote:
WOW DANG ONE OF THE BEST TV DVD-MOVE FOR SHORE EVER DONE, May 8, 2007
By R. Stevens "R S" - See all my reviews

NOW I COULD EASYLY SAY WITH OUT ANY DOUGHT THAT THIS WILL GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE GRATEST TV-DVD MOVE EVER MADE IN THE WORLD THAT IS SO FOR SHORE & THAT IS PUTTING IT LIGHTLY
Does anyone even click on these "My Collection" links?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-12-2007

Well, I might just have to "upgrade" my 24 sets to the slimline packs; my digipacks are about ready to fall apart after only 6 months.

And we'll see if I can grab some of the X Files seasons...

This week wasn't supposed to happen like this.

What's on Target's EXCLUSIVE “DELUXE EDITION” OF Ghost Rider? I was thinking of picking up the extended cut at CC and getting their bonus disc. Anyone know anything about it?

I'll be picking up:

Deadwood: Season Three

Amazon's price for Deadwood is $49.99 now. I guess they're trying to compete with BB and CC.

Thanks for the prices!

all i know is it better not be a bonus dvd cause then im gonna be pissed. someone posted a walmart flyer from canada and it showed a bonus dvd for ghostrider as well, and then theres the cc disk. whats the point of breaking up all these small exclusives to drive the consumer mad.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-12-2007

Mike -
What's in the Cecil B. DeMille Classic Collection? I looked at Amazon.com and can't even get a DVD collection to come up to find out. DDD has the cover which says 16 early feature films and the blurb says "Some of Cecil B. DeMille's best silent movies are included on this collection. DeMille fans will be delighted to find his directorial debut, THE SQUAW MAN, included. The story of THE SQUAW MAN follows Englishman Captain Wynnegate (Dustin Farnum) as he travels to the U.S. as an exile, after taking the fall for his embezzler cousin. Travelling west, he marries an Indian squaw (Red Wing), but years later his cousin admits to the crime on his deathbed, and the Captain returns to England after his wife's suicide."

Can you find out? Please sir.....

Your wish is my command, Bonnie.

Don't know why you had trouble with amazon...but HERE IS THEIR LISTING. It now includes (it didn't when I was posting the RoundUp or I would have included the listing of movies) a complete list of the 16 shorts included in the set. Enjoy!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-12-2007

HD DVDs of Monty Python and Sneakers for me. Does anyone know if Meaning of Life has everything from the two-disc set? Universal seems to be pretty good about including everything, but it's almost impossible to find specs on these releases.

Transplanted Life: Sci-fi soap opera about a man placed in a new body, updated two or three times a week.

Excellent. I was just checking the shelf last night and saw that I had the original Image DVD release, so this upgrade's a no-brainer.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-12-2007

Anybody who picks up The John Wayne Screen Legends Collection please report back and confirm that "The War Wagon" and "Rooster Cogburn" are truly anamorphic upgrades. I'm pretty confident that they will be, as Universal has spec'ed them as such and their other recent collections of star packages have all been anamorphic, but I just want to be sure before I buy.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-12-2007

Costco has the Universal John Wayne and James Stewart "Screen Legend Collections" for US$17.49. They also have the previously released Bing Crosby and Cary Grant titles in the series for the same price. I didn't see the older Rock Hudson set, but YMMV.

"The War Wagon" and "Rooster Cogburn" are indeed new 16:9 enhanced transfers. I also confirmed that "Thunder Bay" is 16:9 widescreen in the James Stewart set. In that case, it was disappointing since, similar to the situation with "Shane" at Paramount, the film was not shot with widescreen in mind even though it was initially screened that way by Universal. This is evident by watching it.

Target's version includes a "production notes book" and an exclusive embossed foil cover, but it appears that the DVD itself is the same.

Breach is a definite rental for me, and possibly Primevil since I'm in the mood for a cheesy adventure/horror movie!
