The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Norbitis available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s)!

--I could use some help with this week’s release “Big Bad Wolf”. I am finding two different releases at two different pricepoints (both listed in this week’s price table). But the only difference seems to be that they have different covers. In one place, one cover is listed as an “edited cover.”

--Best Buy has a 2/$20 deal this week. Buy Norbit ($16.99) and ANY ONE of the following three DVDs ($6.99 apiece) and get BOTH titles for $20: 48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop, Boomerang. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--CC is also pushing LE “Lenticular Cover Editions” of Alien, Alien vs. Predator, Predator, The Abyss, ID4: Independence Day, I Robot, Robocop, The Terminator. These are listed at $9.99 apiece…OR $7.99 apiece if you buy two or more!

--Circuit City has an AWESOME deal on Rescue Me. Buy Rescue Me: Season 3 ($34.99) and get Season 1 or 2 for just $19.99! Must be purchased on same receipt.

--CC also has a FREE FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER BONUS DISC with the purchase one DVD from a list of 28 (priced at just $7.49 apiece!). Minimum 50 per store. No rainchecks.

--Circuit City Odds and Ends: Circuit City has lists of DVDs for sale for $4.99 and $6.99.

--For everyone who’s going to rush out and snap up a copy of Norbit this week, you may want to consider making the purchase at Target. Buy Norbit at Target ($16.99) and get $5 in “Concession Cash” to use at a participating movie theater. Quantity limited. No rainchecks.

--Target Odds and Ends: Target has its usual assortment of $7.50 and $10.00 DVDs. It also has a number of box sets and TV season sets listed on sale. (Ex. Band of Brothers $39.99. Boston Legal: S2 $19.99.)

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-5-2007

My big week, where to start.
Doctor Who boxset, 30 Seconds Over Tokyo, Mission: Impossible season 2, Fantastic Voyage, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Fistful of Dollars, and for a few Dollars More. I already have the SE of Good, Bad, and the Ugly, so i will save a few bucks and not buy the set. Never seen Duck You Sucker, and will skip it for now. And last, Seinfeld for the woman of the house. That should do me.
All this for a guy who just went Blu this week!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-5-2007

Thanks Mike! And Patrick, too (who I assume will be along any post now...)

Somehow, I missed the boat on Seinfeld: Season 7 when it came out and was never able to find it on sale at a decent price... until NOW! Wow! $16.99 at Best Buy? I am all over that one! I will also pick up Seinfeld: Season 8 on Tuesday. The Martin & Lewis Collection looks tempting, too.

Other than that, I may snag one or two of the $4.99-$7.49 sale titles at CC to fill in holes in my library.

Thanks, guys.

Seinfeld S8 (just one more to go, not counting the eventual complete-series set)
Coming to America SE
Trading Places SE (possibly)

Any thoughts on Wait Till Your Father Gets Home? I'm considering a blind buy (for $24.xx at DD, post-20%) on that. I've heard it described as an animated All in the Family. Is that true? I'm a fan of AITF, so is WTYF in the same vein? Thanks.

Big week for me. I'll be picking up

The Dead Zone: Season Five
Fantastic Four
The Sand Pebbles
Seinfeld: Season Eight
and I'll probably wait to pick up the Leone titles when they go on sale in a couple of months (like all catalog titles seem to do nowadays).

Thanks for the prices!

EDIT: Let me add how well separating the SD, HD and BR titles has worked. I didn't think it was neccesary when Mike first asked people's opinion on splitting them up but it's worked out pretty well.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-5-2007

Warning on the $10 Target dvds. Most of them are marked $10 on the displays for the fullscreen versions only. I took the widescreen "Breakup" and "You, Me & Dupree" to the checkout; they rang up as $19.99 each and I showed the cashier the ad. She called over someone and they gave it to me since the ad showed these titles but nothing about full versions on them (except "Blood Diamonds").

UPDATE: There's a Best Buy exclusive of an on-pack comic book on some copies of Highlander: The Search for Vengence. Minimum 6 per store. This appears to be a reprint or excerpt of the first issue of the Highlander comic book from Dark Horse:

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick.

Only definite for me this week is Seinfeld: S8 most likely at DD.com.
Pricing: $32.39 - 6.48 (20%) = $25.91

I'll grab Fantastic Four: Extended Edition if I can find it locally for around $15 including the Movie Cash.

All I can remember is that I enjoyed it as a pre-teen, but I can't recall much more than the overall concept. Here are some links that may help you out:

Series summary from TV.com:

Personally I'm not going to buy it now, but will probably rent it to check it out.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-5-2007

Note that Target has more TV titles on sale than were listed in the ad. Yesterday I picked up Firefly: The Complete Series and Bones: Season 1 for $16.99 each. There were lots more at great prices, including some very cheap Simpsons sets.

Cool, I didn't even know this was coming out. I might try it for $12.99. Can't be worse than the Quentin MacLeod ones...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-5-2007

I'm definately planning on getting CHiPs. I want to pick up Mission: Impossible Season 2 but I don't think I can afford it this week and I'm interested in Coming To America, Fantastic Voyage and VTTBOTS SEs but I'll wait on those too. I already picked up the Fantastic Four EE, Wal-Mart had it out a week early.

I notice Ambushed (1998) was supposedly released this week too, but only Amazon and DDD list it. Has anyone seen it at local stores?

Neither bb.com nor cc.com is listing it.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!
