Far more listenable then the last few albums, but still a lot of hit and miss. However, there are some moments on this album that are very good, and if you're a fan, it's worth the listen.

I agree. I liked Scarlet's Walk and thought The Beekeeper had it's moments, but this takes me back to the Pele/Choirgirl Tori that I loved.

Funny you should say that.....when I listened to it the first time, I was struck by how structurally similar this CD was to Pele. I'm liking this CD a lot and I especially love the track 'Big Wheel'.

For completists only, really. And I've been a fan a long time.

I'm tired of her using silly role-playing as a source for musical inspiration. The music should stand up on its own, and the stuff lately hasn't. In fact, I haven't fully enjoyed an album of hers since Pele.

Re: Tori Amos: American Doll Posse

I do think, despite their differences, that Tori is at times truly brilliant. And there have been moments on her past few albums that have stood out as incredibly beautiful. Tori's performance on Dave Letterman immediately following Sept 11 of "Time" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOPWIJ-D0Mo ) is still one of the few moments I've ever watched a performer and lost it. Admittedly, the time for it (right after the attacks) made it more compelling, but that performance still gets to me.

But this Album has some really great moments, and some moments that made me go "what" ?

Boys For Pele is a great album, but to me, her greatest album is still "Under the Pink" because as an entire album there are almost no "misses" and every track feeds so well into others.

This is where she really needs a better producer then herself. I'm not saying she run back to Eric Rosse, but if Tori had the right producer, the right album manager, it would make a great differences. Songs that get on the album would become treasured B-Sides and the albums would be tighter, better laid out, and stronger.

Just my opinion. I still really look forward to seeing her live in concert again. Tori is one of the very few artists I've ever seen live that I thought was considerably better live then on any recording I've heard.
