The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Night At the Museum is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one!

Also, a new release of The Great Escape SE is listed on all my new release lists but I cannot find out anything about this release or how it compares to the 2004 two-disc SE.

And, this week’s release of Rome Adventure (1962) is one of those Hong Kong imports released on Castaway Pictures.

And, this week’s release of WKRP in Cincinnati: Season 1 is rife with music replacement. Buy at your own risk/discretion.

--Amazon.com is still having their BIG SALE!

--Best Buy is offering an EXCLUSIVE FREE NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM DINOSAUR PUZZLE with the purchase of the Night at the Museum SE or Blu-ray disc. Minimum 80 per store. No rain checks. Items must be purchased on same receipt.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-24-2007

Thanks gents! Great job as always!

Fairly interesting week, with some titles that weren't really on my radar until I saw the RoundUp.

I will be picking up:

Harry & the Hendersons - My kids loved this movie as they were growing up and our old VHS copy is still kicking around here someplace. Could it be possible that this is the first ever DVD release of this film??

Parenthood SE - Another classic that I somehow managed to miss out on DVD until now.

The Odd Couple: Season 1 - Vintage Garry Marshall, and one of those rare TV series that surpasses the original play and film that inspired it.

Also, when I can catch it on sale for a better price somewhere down the road... Drew Carey Show: Season 1 - I think this show lost some of its creative edge in later seasons, but the first few seasons are inventive and FUNNY!

And Finally, as much as I would love to own it, I will take a big PASS on WKRP...

I believe it's identical to the Time-Life release except CBS/Paramount added a bonus disc with 5 non-S1 episodes, supposedly among the favorites of Tony and Jack. As for price comparisons, I'm not sure what T-L was charging for their set so I can't be of help there.

The terrible news is that a pile of syndicated, music-replaced, edited crap posing as one of my favorite shows of all time is out, virtually guaranteeing that we will never see the real version of WKRP.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-24-2007

BTW, just a note to tell people that I was intrigued by this week's title: Hollywood Sound: Music for the Movies.

This features John Mauceri conducting the BBC National Orchestra of Wales playing the movie music of Max Steiner ("Gone With the Wind"), Franz Waxman ("Bride of Frankenstein") and Erich Korngold ("The Adventures of Robin Hood"), all of whom came from Europe. Steiner was a pupil of Ravel. The American roster includes David Raksin ("Laura") and Alfred Newman ("The Hunchback of Notre Dame"). The description from Amazon says the orchestra plays the music before a backdrop of scenes from the movies. Sounds interesting.

But there is no mention of 5.1. It includes one disc with 85 minutes of content. CD Universe lists the title at $15.xx and DDD has it for $13.73.

My local BB had it on the shelf for $33.99!. I was sure I saw it for $29.99 here and checked the BB web site to verify. FWIW, the manager said that if I bring in my receipt, along with the on-line pricing, I will get refunded the difference.

Costco price for NaM is 21.99 but if you were lucky there is a 6.00 coupon on selected titles.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-24-2007

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick.

I picked-up Deja Vu & Night at the Museum (1 Disc) at my local Wal-Mart for $13.87 each.

A Redbox was installed in my local supermarket within the past couple of weeks and I stopped by today and picked-up The Queen.
