The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Blood Diamond AND Eragon are available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s)!

**SPECIAL NOTE! The release of Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse that is included in the grid is an import from Hong Kong. I don’t know anything about those sorts of releases, but included it in case anyone is interested.

I've noticed the trend, and I think it stinks. It used to be (and not that long ago) that the 1-disc and the 2-disc versions were released several weeks, to a couple of months, apart. And then you could still count on the 2-disc versions to be discounted to "regular" release week pricing ($15.99 - $18.99).

Under that model though, I ended up double-dipping and probably spent around $33 for a movie ($14.99 for the 1-disc release and then $17.99 for the 2-disc a couple of months later). So maybe buying the 2-disc version up-front is really saving me around $10.

I'm still not going for it though - the bargain hunter in me won't allow it. As for me, I'm grabbing the 1-disc versions priced in low to mid teens.[/COMMENTARY]

So, what's on my buy list for this week? My signature line might be a hint. I was bummed when I saw the grid pricing for Miami Vice: S3 & S4, but then I came across this:

I think rather Well, Alot of the issues discussed are still relevant today, and one thing Bea Arthur had in the rold was a grand sense of comedic timing and nothing takes that away. I'm looking forward to Maude this Week and Mary Hartman the next.

Re: Maude. I was never a huge fan of the show...although Adrienne Barbeau was a very important figure for me during my adolescence!

But, watching some broadcasts of old All in the Family shows recently though had me thinking that the sitcom formula--when based on topical current events--doesn't seem to hold up as well for me. But I suppose it's a real YMMV situation based on your own personal preferences.

I'd say if once a fan, still a fan.

That's funny, Aaron. When I opened the Target ad and saw the Blood Diamond and Eragon SEs featured prominently, I thought for SURE I was looking at two new Target "Deluxe editions" of those titles. Wasn't to be, however.

I wonder if they were maybe trying to give the impression they had something different to offer with those two titles?

Me? Paranoid? Just because everyone is out to get me?
