The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-13-2007

Would love to get info on the Casino Royale DE @ Target. For example, how long is the "Making of" featurette...and is that the only thing on the 3rd disc? If so, I doubt it's worth the extra $9 on top of the CC price. And Wal-Mart will likely be even cheaper than CC.

Casino Royale is my "must have" for this week. I missed it in the theater and want to watch it immediately.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-13-2007

Yeah, I'd like to know more about Target's exclusive version of "Casino Royale," too. That CC price is hard to resist, but I have a Target gift card I've been saving, so I'll probably take the plunge.

Because of the large 007 geek following (of which I am proudly a member), I'm concerned that the Target exclusive edition could be hard to come by (at least for some of us) if you don't go on Tuesday, a la "Munich." (I know the two-disc "Munich" wasn't a store exclusive, but it was a pain in the butt for a lot of people to track down.)

Hopefully, I'm wrong. I'll probably walk into Target on Tuesday and trip over a huge pile of the exclusive sets.

Anybody have details?

I loves me some zombies.

Target tends to have plenty of their exclusive editions. I bought the Target editions of Cars and The Departed late in release week, and there were still tons of copies available.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-13-2007

I'd be surprised based on the image of the Target exclusive in their ad if it even really includes a bonus DVD. It's hard to make out the exact text on the top of the packaging, but the image on the right is of the "Bond on Set" book. Makes me wonder if instead of an "exclusive DVD" it includes a minitiarized version of the "Bond on Set" book.

To me, it looks like the top of the pacakge says "2 Disc Widescreen Limited Edition Casino Royale DVD" and underneath it looks to say something like "Exclusive Bond on Set Book".

Maybe there is a bonus DVD in there, but based on that picture, I wouldn't be expecting it...

I wish I was near YOUR Wal-Mart. When I lived near one, I always had to have them price match to CC and BB to get a deal on a new release. The one that was near my college town was much better at undercutting the competition's price.

For a 2-disc set that CC price is irresistable. Just wish they had a BR deal too. Now I just have to hope my rewards coupons come this week.

I think Brandon is correct regarding Casino Royale at Target. It appears to be the same as http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayP...;-1&sku=619689 the HMV UK exclusive. I stopped at Target this morning, but none of my Entertainment Department "connections" was working today. I'll get more info on CR and Sublime and post it on Monday.

Thanks, fellas! I guess the guys in charge of the Target flyers really dropped the ball on that one. Looks to me like the bonus is going to be a book. Off to CC (or Wal-Mart) for me!

As is always the case. it all depends upon circumstances and individuals. I've been in my closest Wal-Mart store (I'm surrounded by several) on Tuesday...and have seen the media manager with the various flyers in-hand and marking the week's big releases below the lowest advertised price.

Once that manager gets transferred to a different store, I'll probably be making sure I've got the appropriate flyers tucked in my pocket and request a price match!

Thanks, as always, Mike and Patrick.

I may just pick up Casino Royale this week.

Not to veer too far off topic here but, as someone who has never seen a Bond movie (I'll save everyone the trouble and post the myself), would Casino Royale be a good place to start? I know it's a prequel so I won't be missing on any Bond backstory by watching it, right?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-13-2007

The great thing about the Bond flicks is that they pretty much stand on their own, I do not believe you need to see them in any particular order. I was late to the game, my first was Goldeneye, and I believe I have seen most of them.

That said, CR is probably as good a place as any to start, it is a great film. I would also recommened From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, Goldeneye, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Man with the Golden Gun, and Licence to Kill

Casino Royale this week at Best Buy for me. I'll be using some RZ certificates.

As for Bond, Casino Royale was our first Bond film, and it prompted us to go out and buy all the Ultimate Edition boxes. We're watching them all in chronological order now... next up is For Your Eyes Only. The Connery Bonds were all top notch, especially Goldfinger, and the rest have been pretty hit and miss. OHMSS was the worst of the bunch, IMO... I guess I'm not a Lazenby fan.
