Is the Chucky series a comedy now? :)

I saw the fourth one in the theaters, and I found it more funny than scary. Now the fifth one is On Demand, and I'm laughing more than anything.

Are they going the Scary Movie route?

I think that they realized that after the gimmick of the first film, the second and third kinda took the concept as far as it could go so they decided to just embrace the lunacy of it all with the fourth and fifth I think by giving Chucky a wife and a child.

From what I understand, Universal was actually embarassed by the surprise success of the fourth film and that's why the fifth was delayed for as long as it was.

It's seemed like a comedy to me for quite some time already. BRIDE OF CHUCKY could have been a truly twisted concept if it wasn't all done for laughs ("Do you have a rubber?" "Hey, babe, I'm ALL Rubber!").
