Arghh, with Best Buy charging $25 for the "Silence" CE and $20 for the "Hannibal Lecter Collection" that pretty much confirms that the box set includes 1-disc editions of "Silence" and "Hannibal" (which isn't surprising considering how everyone's been listing it as "3-disc")

Looks like I'll be picking up both the CE for obvious issues (new transfer and extras) and the HLC for the R1 debut of the theatrical cut of "Manhunter" in widescreen.

Looks like this is what you'll have to buy to have a complete Lecter DVD collection in R1:

Nothing new for me this week (AGAIN!!!!!) but I am all over the Columbo sets for $19.99 at Best Buy (especially since that is one of the sets B&N DIDN'T have during their sale!)

Gladiator Extended Edition

My target was clueless, they only had 1 of the $10 DVD's(One flew over the...)
The clerk had no idea about the ad.

He showed me the regular edition priced at $13.72

So I went to Circuit City right across the street.
They had 2 copies in stock.

I took 1 to customer service counter for the price amtch.
It was priced at $29.99, but rang up at $24.99.

So they price-matched it at $8.50+.52 tax

I had a $10 gift card from the Christmas Eve sale for spending $100.
I actually spent $100.39. For which I just got a $29.99 Rebate on Quicken 2007.

So I still have 99 cents on my gift card.

If you catch these deals, some of them are pretty good.

Well, after a week, and the bad experience at BB, I finally picked up the 2-disc GoodFellas at Target for $10.00. There was no sale price by the disc, and the sticker said $19.99. Suffice it to say, I went to one of those price scanners and made sure it was on sale...I didn't feel like getting into another argument over this title!

I went to Target today, too. No 3-disc (or even 2-disc) Gladiators anywhere in sight! And, frankly, there was no display for these $10 discs ANYWHERE. I found in their big wall of movies a single row which contained the Goodfellas SE, Unforgiven SE and Cuckoo's Nest SE. They were all marked $19.99. I picked up Goodfellas SE and price-checked it and it showed $10. Also in that same row was Chariots of Fire SE, Boogie Nights SE and East of Eden SE. I picked up East of Eden (a title I've had my eye on for awhile) and it, too, scanned at $10!!!.

I'm sorry to report that is the extent of my pricing experiment because I was in a bit of a rush...but I wouldn't be surprised if more of those SEs rang up at the $10 pricepoint.

I had the same experience at my local Target. They said it might be a misprint on the picture in the ad, and offered me the 1 disc version! No sale...I went over to the Circuit City next door and picked up the only copy of the EE Gladiator edition and got a price match -10% (110% price guarantee). So out the door for less than $9.00 for a $30 movie set!

Someone else mentioned Target having the 2 disc version. Is this the OOP version with DTS? I thought that was the only version that offered DTS, so it was much sought after. I could be wrong though. I know I am happy with what I got!


Mike, I think that should say "Princess Bride SE"! Or maybe they only have the Dread Pirate Roberts version for sale! (whoops! forget that last statement...I see it is the original version, not the new version(s)!)

It took visits to three Targets in the Houston area to find any copy of Casablanca, much less the 2-disc "special edition", and even at the store that had the correct edition, there was no indication (no special display or signage) that it was on sale. However, the price check kiosk scanner confirmed that it was indeed on sale for $10. Since the price elsewhere in town is $19.99, that's a real deal.

The way it seems Target is "hiding" this sale (based on the few reports to the RoundUp), it almost seems like the whole thing was a mistake on their part. I think I'll be trying again this week on the Gladiator...and maybe checking out another store like CC as others have done.

Couldn't you get a raincheck for the titles that you want? That way if they 'accidentally' left some of their stock in the back, you'd have to wait but you could still get it for $10.
