| Hi kids! So I'm nearing the end of Season 4 of our favorite, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which got me thinking about how to obtain Seasons 5-7. In doing some web surfing, I came across what appears to me to be previously-unknown-to-this-board contact information (phone and email) for an honest-to-goodness Fox Home Entertainment executive. I phoned the gentleman, and while I would say he wasn't exactly receptive (at least he picked up), he did seem to be a legitimate decision-maker, and he gave me some interesting information. First of all, he indicated that it is indeed, profit and loss that has slowed things on the release of TMTMS and other classic series...they didn't sell as many as they'd like and they don't really want to produce seasons without making a profit. No big surprise there. Second, he did say that the situation is currently "bending back", that while some shows have stalled, the thought now may be to consider getting some of those releases back on track. Finally, he claimed he "wants to hear from" people who like TMTMS, and asked about petition sites dealing with the show. I told him I would email him once again asking fox to put out seasons 5-7, and also include the links for the two biggest petition sites, and i since have done that. Here's where you come in. I'm going to give his email address below, and while I'm not sure how much good it will do, if some of the people on the board write him, maybe at the very least it will move TMTMS up in fox's consciousness. Keep in mind he wasn't thrilled about the email addy being posted, but he appreciated the heads up. It's my humble guess/opinion that this fellow may have a role in what gets released, and that if you're nice, passionate, concise, and we don't bombard the guy, it COULD help. I think it's worth a shot. I mean, I'm still gonna try to track down Seasons 5-7 before Fox puts them out on DVD, but if we can make the DVDs happen even a day faster, that would be great!!!...So here it is: Steven Feldstein Fox Home Entertainment Senior Vice President, Corporate and Marketing Communications steve.feldstein@fox.com P.S. Interestingly, Mr. Feldstein told me that Fox GAVE the Oprah show the DVD sets that ms. winfrey gave to the audience at the recent TMTMS reunion. Certainly a very nice gesture by Fox, and by Oprah, and I only mention it because I'm thinking those won't really be counted as "sales", as had been speculated on in previous posts. |
