The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Waist Deep is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one!

ALSO… Be forewarned! I have included The Fox and the Hound in this week’s RoundUp. However, there are many questions about the issue of aspect ratio and whether this release is MAR or OAR. I have yet to see a definitive answer to that question, so I have decided to include the title since it is of a rather high-profile. You may want to check out some of the discussions that are taking place on the HTF Software Forum.

--I am still unsure of my efficiencies in finding and pricing the various HD & Blu-Ray release each week. Be forewarned. This week the confusion remains with questionable dates on some of the Blu-Ray titles.

--Amazon.com is still having a special offer on Blu-Ray & HD-DVD discs: Save an additional 10% on all of your Blu-ray & HD-DVD Disc purchases for the next year. Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-10-2006

Thanks for the prices, guys!

Slow week for me. Possibly, The Munsters, but according to Ron, that appears to be a rehash of the extras included in the season two set. I will wait for clarification on that one.

I was never much of a fan of Fox and the Hound, so I will pass. I also think with this release being so hot on the heels of The Little Mermaid, it may not do as well at retail as Disney is anticipating, which means we may see significantly lower sale pricing on it as we move closer to Christmas. If I can pick it up for $12-$13 I probably will, but at $18-$20, this is a "no sale" for me.

Just Scrubs #4 this week. I'm tempted to buy Everybody Hates Chris as a blind buy, but I'm going to Netflix the first disc to see if I like this show. Chris Rock is always been hit or miss for me...

The original Treasure Island is tempting, but I'll wait until it drops in price.

I don't think ADV holds the rights to TPW. It was a Hallmark/Lionsgate release. BTW, my local BB had 4.3 out yesterday, so I picked it up. Otherwise, Ethan Green and Fos and the Hound.

Hey guys,

My sister went on a shopping trip down to Manhattan for the weekend. I gave her a laundry list of older dvds to buy while she was down there.
She was able to find most of them at For Your Entertainment...
How much more expensive is that compared to the stores in this list?

Thanks

typically they are higher than other stores, but sometimes new dvds are decent with their rebates. But you have to keep track of them, their rebate processing has been less reliable lately. their website is fye.com. I would bet their older dvds are higher priced.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-10-2006

Costco came through with low prices on a couple more Warner box sets this week. They had the "Motion Picture Masterpieces" collection for $31.39. They also had the "Leading Ladies of the Studio Era" collection from a couple of weeks ago for the same price. I was hoping they would finally get around to stocking the latter.
