I don't think I've ever seen a title from the Criterion Collection at a Wal-Mart before (not even The Rock or Armageddon!). I was quite surprised to see about 8 to 10 copies of the CC version of Dazed & Confused at my local store (East Greenbush, NY) last night. They were unmarked, there was no shelf tag, and they were in an unusual place in their DVD department (kinda stuck in with some oddball discs).
They were charging $33.64.

Okay, gang...figure THIS out!
I was at that same Wal-Mart tonight which I mentioned in the original post.
They had NO copies of the Dazed &* Confused: Criterion Collection...but instead had a dozen copies of the Universal version for $14.xx
Go figure.

I know you ALL have been waiting for the other shoe to drop....so here's the latest.
NOW at my local Wal-Mart they have BOTH versions of Dazed and Confused (Universal and Criterion) sitting side-by-side in their rather limited section of those DVDs that are not "New Releases", "TV on DVD", "Family" , or bargain bin stuff.
Updates as events warrant.
