Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

sorry for the odd phrasing.

lately pages are slow to finish loading.

it seems to get to the very last thing, whatever that is to fully load a page then it hangs there for a few seconds, then the page finally comes all the way up.

it hangs right at the top section of a page, most noticable if you hit back button to a previous page when i am low or not at the very top.
so i see the ads and the buttons for the blog, htf deals etc. for a few secs.
at the top of the page then it pops to the lower area.

thats just an awful description i hope someone can figure out what i mean.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

I have noticed this for a week or so myself. I thought it was just my PC or connection, now I'm not so sure.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

I'm aware of the problem posting last night. Parker fixed it
early this morning.

As far as the forum loading slowly? Have not seen it on my
end, but will certainly keep an eye on it.

If anyone else is having the same problem, please continue
to post it here.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

I mentioned this problem in the report thread. Here's my original post from yesterday:

I'm having a problem with threads not fully loading. It appears that it's hanging on a file within the Amazon.com domain (example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/associates/...etheater05-20)). Everything else loads in quickly except for the above mentioned file. I'm using Safari 2.0.4 under MacOS 10.4.7.

I having to hit the stop button on every page so it will skip to the first unread post. I've noticed today that the file(s) holding things up also has the format of http://www.assoc-amazon.com/s/link-e...metheater05-20

Add me to that list. Loads the top section with ads instantly, but beyond that takes a few seconds then it pops on. Two different pc's, two different networks.
The End.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

Yeah. I could NOT get the portal page to load for me tonight. My Firefox just kept trying and trying. Wouldn't shut it down. I could "back door" my way into the forum via an index or sub-forum page...but I thought the entire HTF was down since I couldn't get in on the portal page. Took me awhile to figure it out.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

I really don't know what you guys are seeing as my Firefox 1.5.0.7 is loading the pages just fine.

One thing you could try is to have Firefox display the pages as IE and see if that fixes the program.

Everything loaded just fine for me right now. I noticed the video is gone. Maybe that was what was causing my slowdown?

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

i see, "waiting for 4.adbrite.co..."
in the small section on the bottom were after a page loads it usually says,
"done"

so i went to this website.
adbrite.com

is htf using them for advertising o the forum.

also everytime i go to the HTF i get a cookie from adbrite.com.
even after i delete it.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

The Portal Page is now loading fine for me. No problems.

It was the only page refusing to load earlier, Parker.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

Still seing this delayed loading on almost all pages, using IE.

I don't see anything similar when I go to other sites on the web, so it seems to just be HTF.The whole top, down to the blue line where it says "Threads in forum" loads right away. Then it hang for maybe 30 seconds, then the rest of the page loads..

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

Pages open up very nicely here mon capitaine, using Firefox for over a year. I like Firefox and all it's gizmos, even if it does crash a lot more frequently than Explorer ever did, and occasionally finding that all my bookmarks have suddenly vanished without trace is not really the nicest thing Firefox is capable of. But in the page-loading department... I have no complaints.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

I might suggest a cause for the slow loads....the lag seems to have begun at the same time the preview feature was added. I mean the little box that pops up to give you a look at a post before clicking on it to see what else is in the post.

just a thought.....the feature is nice, but if it is causing the slowdown, I'd vote for dropping it.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

I'm not sure if this relates to the topic at hand, but I run into odd issues with pages loading slowly...

Sometimes when I post a message, it doesn't reload the page with my post right away. It will sit there and I have to wait a good minute or so before it gets to my post. The odd thing is, the post actually makes it through because when I post and the page 'hangs', if I open a new window and check the thread, my post is there even though my post page still hasn't reloaded to show me my post yet.

I've had this happen in Safari on a Mac (OSX) as well as in Netscape 7.2 on a PC (WinXP). It seems to happen mostly when I'm at work, but I don't know if that has anything to do with my workplace connection or the fact that I'm at work during "heavy" internet traffic hours. I can't imagine it's my work connection since most sites seem to navigate smoother. I don't recall whether this happens at home or not, but I'll make a mental note and reply back if it happens to me at home...

Oh, also, sometimes it takes me a while to connect to this site when I'm at work.

Does this sound like an HTF site issue? or does it sound more like a possible firewall (or whatever) issue at my workplace?

Just curious to see if anyone else had this issue...

Seems a bit quicker to me this Sunday AM.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

This issue is being discussed in two separate threads now, just want to make sure you know it's actually the same problem: unusually long post submission times, causing a rash of double posts as people get impatient (not realizing that the post actually went thru. I just click on the forum link after a couple of seconds).

EDIT: this post went thru just fine.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of those double posts. I don't hit the Submit post button again because you can see that something is going on with the redirect.

Sometimes I'll do what Tony said and refresh manually and the post shows up.

Things seem fine and quick at home this morning, but I'll have to see how things go when I'm back at work tomorrow.

Re: Pages slow to finish last part of loading the page?

Actually, like I posted yesterday in that other thread, I cannot even get into this forum anymore, unless I'm signed in. Maybe after trying 10 times I can, but I don't really call that working.

How can I sign back in when all it does is hang IE? FireFox will get me in, but its never stops waiting on kontera.com. Then it might end up with a error or might not.

Anyway, one of those ad's are causing problems and I assume its not for everyone. AVS had the same thing awhile back and it only affected some people also.
