Maybe its like those Rorshack (sp) ink blot tests. You see a bunny and I see an ink blot

Another cat? Perhaps. For love there is also a season; its seeds must be resown. But a family cat is not replaceable like a wornout coat or a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that...

For me at least, the weakest part of the special effects of the film are when we are being shown the immense Krell underground. Whenever I see this, all I see are miniatures. I don't buy into the vastness of the Krell technology that was intended. Am I alone in this?

Don't worry. For the 60th Anniversary, CBS will be contracted to replace all of the dated special effects with updated CGI. And this time.. Dr. Morbius will shoot first.

But honestly, I don't really notice it, because I know it is a fifty year old feature. Any sci-fi feature this old is bound to have those occasions. Heck.. I could often nit-pick at a lot of so-so CGI in many recent features. But if it's not horrible, it won't pull me out of a good story. I think this also applies for Forbidden Planet.

For me those were among the strongest scenes, I totally bought into the immensity of the Krell complex and was able to suspend belief......but then again I guess it is subjective, I have nephews around 8 & 10 who can't stand the opening shots of Krypton in Superman the Movie because all they can see is models, they think it looks fake. YMMV.

Hey, Am I the only one who got the Ultimate Collector's tin with a Robby The Robot that doesn't have a clear dome on his head? There appears to be little notches on it where a piece of plastic should be but...no plastic dome! Hmmm, kind of a bummer, but I am glad to have this film either way.

Mine didn't come that way and I don't recall any other post mentioning that. Hmmm...maybe that makes yours more collectible?

Re: Warner announces Forbidden Planet for November

Bebe Barron, who with her husband Louis composed the first electronic score for a feature film — the eerie gulps and burbles, echoes and weeeoooos that accentuated invisible monsters and robotic creatures in the 1956 science-fiction classic “Forbidden Planet” — died Sunday in Los Angeles. She was 82.

Her son, Adam, said she died of natural causes. Louis Barron died in 1989.

"No one would know us there."
