Unlike Universal, Warner Brothers actually seems to love movies as much as we do (and we love them for it!). This set is going to be awesome!

The film isn't due until November. Today is August 1st. That's a little early for Amazon to be taking pre-orders. It would be one thing if the title were released with an earlier release date and then delayed, but that's not the case here. Remember that patience is a virtue, and that good things come to those who wait.

Re: Warner announces Forbidden Planet for November
Anybody remember when Men in Black was going to be the first "day and date" VHS/LD and DVD release? (Which would supposedly bring a huge boost to the fledgling format.) Then it kept getting pushed back until it was finally cancelled? (Only to be released years later when DVD was already the new standard, LD was dead and VHS dying.)

Joe

Btw love that cover too, all covers look great, can't wait for this release!

Well, the picture of Robby holding the man at least represents a real shot from the film.

("I'll put him in the tractor, sir.") I'm more interesting in knowing who dyed the uniforms from the C57-D to those funky pastel colors.

| Robby holding a scantily clad babe is an iconic piece of promotional artwork and very much in tune with the posters of the period. |
To say nothing of being typical of the pulp magazines that so much SF derived from. Bad Guy/Robot/Monster/Alien carrying scantily clad babe was practically a requirement for every sf, mystery or adventure pulp from around 1920 through the early 60s.
Notice that every version of "Robby and the Girl" is a variation of the same original. The poses are identical, only flipped to face the other way in some cases. The colors change, the picture may appear to be line art, paint or pastel, but everything else is exactly the same - obviously taken from a single original. (The "Robby with Guy" picture, by contrast, is a completely different pose and seems to have been taken directly from the film itself or an on-set still.)
