Greetings 1933 KONG Fans:
This is a follow-up to a posting I made in the 1933 King Kong in November thread waaay back on June 12, 2005.
The subject of that original posting was the long-lost, deleted spider-pit sequence from the 1933 KING KONG. To quickly sum up my original posting, one of my oldest and closest friends, Josh Berman, owns the original stop motion spider miniature used in the sequence. (If Josh’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s also the person who located and saved much of the missing footage from IT’S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD.) Two spider miniatures were created for the spider-pit sequence — one was destroyed at some point after filming; the other was subsequently featured in THE BLACK SCORPION before disappearing for at least 40+ years.
For the full story about how Josh located the spider (and how I was there when we found it!), please refer to the KONG link above.
In a later posting, I promised to post some photos of Josh's spider — nicknamed "Paul". Unfortunately, due to some unpleasant family matters I had no choice but dealing with at the time, the posting of the photos was completely forgotten. Until today.
I was posting a couple of photos over at this IT’S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD Restoration thread today when I suddenly remembered about the KONG spider photos.
Long-story short — here are some wonderful photos of “Paul” for your perusal and enjoyment, including a couple very detailed close-up shots, courtesy of Josh Berman:

Josh Berman (left) with Forrest J. Ackerman (right) holding “Paul”

“Paul” on display at the KING KONG 50th Anniversary Celebration, March 1983
Grauman's Chinese Theatre (Screening) and The Roosevelt Hotel (Exhibit), Hollywood, CA

Super Close-Up of “Paul” — AHHHHHH! Scary Spider!!!!

“Paul” on exhibit in 1982, a couple of months after being rediscovered.

Yup... another close-up of “Paul”
Well, there you go folks… I sincerely hope that you enjoyed finally seeing these!
Regards to all!
