Dcr = Qam ??

I am looking at the Samsung LN-R408D 40" LCD. The Samsung web site shows it's digital cable ready with a cable card slot. Does that mean it has a QAM tuner? Is a DCR tuner different from QAM? Most people I have asked have no idea what Im talking about.

I undertand I need a QAM tuner to receive my unscrambled HD "local" channels from my existing tw cable connection. I dont want to use a cable box or subscribe to any of the digital packages that require their cable box.

I dont need any of the "cable" hd channels (tnt, espn, etc) where this particular tv will be placed.

If it is an HD set and it has a CableCard slot, I'd say it's 99.999% it is QAM. That is the standard cable HD tuning format, why would they put a CableCard on anything else?
